Kop Mountain is a mountain located in the Eastern Black Sea Mountains system. It lies south of Bayburt city center, between the valleys of the Çoruh River and the Karasu River. The mountain, which is an important transportation route connecting the Black Sea Region to Eastern Anatolia, has an altitude of 2918 m and is located within the borders of the Kop Mountain Defense Historical National Park.
The border between the Black Sea Region and the Eastern Anatolia Region passes through the peaks of the mountain. The peaks of the mountain also separate the three provinces from each other. The northern part of the mountain is within the borders of Bayburt province, the southern part is within the borders of Erzurum in the east and Erzincan in the west. At the peaks of the mountain is the Kop Mountain Martyrdom.
Kop Pass connects Bayburt and Erzurum via Aşkale, and is 2305 m high on Kop Mountain. The Kop Mountain Tunnel, which will disable the pass, is being built at a height of 2400 m in the form of double tubes, each 6,500 m long.
The mountain, which was once covered with forests, has been destroyed by human activities. Today, the land is covered with a steppe community. Forests are in small pieces as remnants.
