United quartet Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, Scott McTominay and Tom Heaton took advantage of a rare day off on tour to visit pop star Robbie Williams at his Los Angeles home.

Maguire is friendly with former Take That star Williams and is understood to have arranged the visit, with all four United stars posting pictures of the trip on their respective Instagram accounts.

United’s newly-appointed first-team coach Andreas Georgson has joined up with the squad at their Los Angeles base and was involved in his first training session on Tuesday. The former Lillestrom head coach played a full part in the session, alongside boss Erik ten Hag and fellow l coaches Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake and Darren Fletcher.

Georgson will take the lead on set-piece coaching and individual development with immediate effect, while also contributing to wider team coaching.

Winger Amad is hoping this will be his breakthrough season at United, after impressing towards the end of the last campaign. During the summer break, he holidayed in the Maldives, where he met up with Ivory Coast compatriot Yaya Toure.

The former Manchester City midfielder did not let club rivalries prevent him from offering Amad advice, despite him playing for the red half of Manchester. Amad said: “This summer I met Yaya T on holiday. He gave me some advice - but it’s a secret.

"He said something that was good for me. He’s a good guy. He gave me some advice for the future. Meeting him on holiday and talking with him was very important for me. He’s a big legend in my country.”

In the past, when players have been on an extended break following their involvement in major tournaments, they have joined up with the United squad during the club’s pre-season tour. This year, however, none of United’s players involved in Euro 2024 or the Copa America will join up with the squad in the US.

Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, England pair Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo, new Holland signing Joshua Zirkzee, Turkey keeper Altay Bayindir and Argentina’s victorious Copa America duo Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho will all train at United’s Carrington complex ahead of the new season.
