Pep Guardiola's contract with Manchester City expires next summer
Pep Guardiola has previously expressed a desire to move into international management after leaving Manchester City.
The Catalan, 53, has dominated the Premier League since moving to The Etihad in 2016, winning the title in six of the last seven seasons.
But after recently hinting that his premiership is nearing an end, The Mail have reported that Guardiola is expected to leave City when his contract expires in 2025.
While it remains to be seen if next season will indeed be Guardiola's last at Manchester City, he has already outlined a potential exit plan after citing a desire to manage at a major international tournament in the future.
Speaking to ESPN Brasil back in February, Guardiola was asked what he wanted to achieve in the future and responded: “A national team. I would like to train a national team for a World Cup or a European Championship. I would like that.
“I do not know who would want me. To work for a national team they have to want you, just like a club.
“When I started in this I never thought about winning a league title or winning the Champions League. No. I thought, I have a job? OK. I would like to have the experience of living through a World Cup, or a Euro or a Copa America, or whatever it is. I would like that. I do not know when that would be, if that is five, 10, 15 years from now but I would like to have the experience of being a manager in a World Cup.”

In total, Guardiola has won 15 trophies in eight years at Manchester City. And speaking after his team became the first in history to win four consecutive Premier League titles, Guardiola implied that the end to his remarkable reign was nigh.
“The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying [after next season],” he said in a press conference. “We have talked with the club – my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years – we will see.
“What I want for my players is to enjoy two or three days [of this title success] and then we have two days to prepare for the final. But right now I don’t know what exactly the motivation is to do it [next season] because it’s difficult to find it when everything is done. But knowing the players and myself I know that when we are there we will say why should we not win today? Why should we not work as much as possible to do what we have to do? And I know we are going to do it [work].”
