Prescott Niles On Recording The Knack’s Live Album Two Weeks After September 11 And The Doors Connection
The Knack have released a historic recording of the band live from 25 September 2001, recorded just two weeks after the September 11 terrorist attack on New York City and Washington DC. They also had a close connection with The Doors’ co-founder Ray Manzarek.

The Doors To Release 50th Anniversary Edition of ‘LA Woman’
The Doors have a 50th anniversary edition of ‘L.A. Woman’ on the way. The new edition has been expanded to three discs. A 40th Anniversary edition had two.

Gunpowder & Sky (69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez, Lil Peep: Everybody’s Everything), a fast-growing indie studio, along with JAM Inc., managers of the Jim Morrison Estate, and Jeff Pollack, announced today that together with the Jim Morrison estate, they will bring the poetry and artistry of The Doors’ frontman to life in a new documentary.

The Doors never had a bass player. Ray Manzerek used to play all of the bass parts on his keyboard. But when it came time to record the iconic ‘L.A. Woman’ album, producer Bruce Botnick recruited Elvis Presley’s bass player Jerry Scheff for the sessions.

Jim Morrison Was In A Great Mood Making The Doors ‘L.A. Woman’

Three months after The Doors released their classic ‘L.A. Woman’ Jim Morrison was dead. The album was Morrison’s final record with the band but according to guitarist Robby Krieger, Morrison was in a great mood while they made the album.
