LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars selected 19 players in Phase II of the 2018 USHL Draft, picking nine (9) forwards, seven (7) defensemen and three (3) goaltenders on Tuesday.

"Similar to yesterday, everyone in this draft is on a different path and a different trajectory," said Stars General Manager Jon Hull. "We're excited to, first, get them to camp and evaluate them there. Then, we can give everyone their own individual plans moving forward."

The Stars began the draft selecting three defensemen, including 11th overall selection Logan Britt, who has 66 games of junior hockey experience with the Aberdeen Wings. The Stars previously drafted Britt in the 2015 USHL Phase I Draft, which helped develop a relationship with the Stars and the Britt Family.

"We know [Logan], we know the family, we know the advisor really well. We see him as a kid that had an early setback in our league with not being retained then had a great year and developed really well over the last 24 months in Aberdeen. He's certainly a player that we feel can step in and play a lot of minutes for us."

After selecting their first forward at 83rd overall, the Stars acquired Hunter Carrick from the Muskegon Lumberjacks for that pick, expanding the first four moves in the draft for defensemen.

"Early on, we wanted to make sure we were solid on the back end. We have some defensemen that we did some homework on and feel that they can contribute right away and play top minutes for us. We were able to get through the first couple rounds and get the guys we had our hearts set on.

"[Carrick] is certainly a guy that can manage the puck well. Anytime you have a guy that's played with junior experience, certainly one that is youthful like Hunter and shows good offensive progression, is one that we want on our team."

The Stars selected 12 players with prior junior hockey experience with nine of those players skating in North America. In addition, six players are currently committed to NCAA Division I programs.
