Negro League Games by Location (original) (raw)
One of the main features of Negro League baseball was the barnstorming aspect. Negro League teams mostly had home ballparks - although they tended to lease these and share them with other teams - but they tended to play proper home games mostly on Sundays. The rest of the time, teams traveled far and wide, playing here, there, and everywhere. Many of these barnstorming games were played against local teams. Those games have not been compiled by Retrosheet (yet). But many of these games were played between Negro League teams or between two teams of major-league caliber talent (often one team of White AL/NL players and one team of Black Negro League players).
So far, Retrosheet has found games played between major-league quality players including at least some Negro Leaguers at 337 different ballparks in 259 cities across 33 states, the District of Columbia, and two foreign countries (Mexico and Canada).
