Sakabula Golf Course is located in the Natal Midlands just outside of Howick, a fine South African outback of lush green vegetation home to a host of wildlife and complete with panoramic views of the Drakensberg and surrounding mountain ranges.

This 18 hole par 73 course has proved over the last 15 years to be one of the most popular golfing estates for visitors and locals alike. It�s front and back nine are totally unique and so different in nature that the golfer could be forgiven for thinking that he or she had been transported to another course. The challenge and reward of this diversity that this has brought golfers back again and again.

The course opened in 1997 after meticulous planning and the consolidation of 12 surrounding farms by owner, Gerri de Jong. Since then it has been all but a fairy-tale for the fascinating course which includes some noteworthy features such as the 5 par uphill 5th � a real test of stamina, the traffic-light on the 10th holes tee and the large indigenous paperback thorn tree on the 14th.

All in all, Sakabula is a wonderful course and being just 45min away from Durban and just outside of Pietermaritzburg, you really have no excuse not to visit. Book your accommodation in Howick and your tee-off ahead to avoid disappointment.
