Where: 15 minutes' south of Port Elizabeth, 10 minutes' from the Baywest Mall
Level: across the board � beginner to advanced
Type of route: purpose-built single track, over varied terrain that includes a number of climbs
Best: during summer the trails are open Friday to Sunday between 16h00 and 18h00

Hopewell Conservation Estate is a fenced wilderness area in the Eastern Cape, not far from Port Elizabeth. Since December 2012 it has offered trail options from 7 to 55 km for mountain bikers and trail runners, allowing them to get close to nature in amongst fynbos, kloofs, bushveld and wild game.

There are three trail options at the moment, but Hopewell is still in development and these should expand over time:

12 km social ride
35 km intermediate ride
50 km advanced and technical ride

Hopewell's Restaurant offers good food for after the ride, open between 07h00 and 15h00. A kiddies' trail, a jungle gym play area, and a birthday party option round off the attractions. Pay a conservation fee at the gate.

Hopewell is also a 2015 Big Year MTB Trail.
