Maitlands Beach in Maitlands, Eastern Cape (original) (raw)

Maitland Beach, known by locals simply as Maitlands, is an exquisite beach that is expansive and pristine. It is known for its seemingly endless stretches of white sand, but even more so for its enormous sand dunes. These dunes continue to be hugely popular for sand boarding and tobogganing amongst old and young alike.

Maitland Beach lies at the mouth of the Maitland River, extending from just outside Beachview to beyond Bluewater Bay. Horses are often seen galloping with their riders on this beautiful stretch of coast, as are those enjoying a relaxing walk or collecting mussels.

The waters here are on the wild side, and so it is not an optimal swimming beach.
