Die Skoolhuisie is a highly recommended property for self catering in De Vlugt for up to 4 guests visiting the Garden Route region.

Die Skoolhuisie offers self catering accommodation in De Vlugt where you get a chance to forget about the hustle of daily life. Amongst the calm mountains, Pecan nut trees and tranquil flow of the Keurbooms River you will find rest and relaxation.

Self catering Accommodation

Die Skoolhuisie is a self catering holiday cottage with a double bed and two single beds in an open plan area. There is a fireplace and a bathroom with a bath and shower.

Hot water is supplied via a boiler known as a donkey. This requires the lighting of a fire under the boiler, either in the evening or in the morning. The kitchen has a gas cooker and a fridge. There is a solar power system.

Outside, the patio has a built in braai and overlooks the mountains and Keurbooms River. A splash pool is the perfect place to cool off on the hot summer days.

The Area

Some of the most beautiful drives are possible in the area around Uniondale. The Prince Alfred, Homtini, Montagu and Phantom passes, all dirt roads, are sheer breathtaking beauty. A tarred alternative is the Langkloof to Kareedouw drive, which twists and turns along the foot of the Tsitsikamma Mountain range.

The Langkloof includes a fruit route, which takes in a number of fruit farms and packing sheds. Possibly the best reason to linger in Uniondale is planning your outward journey: The N9 takes you via Graaff-Reinet to Nieu-Bethesda and the unique Owl House; Prince Alfred's Pass takes you down to your accommodation in Plettenberg Bay and Knysna on the Garden Route and if these don't do it for you, then the R62 takes you to Port Elizabeth.

Loved this simple place! No electricity, but ample gas and solar. The most. Beautiful pool with croak the frog! Stunning sunrises, peaceful days. Must be heaven. Happines: this feels good, I am complete.
