Tomo Safari Lodge is a Limpopo game lodge providing a wildlife experience for anyone visiting Valley of the Olifants.

Tomo Safari Lodge is located inside the Greater Kruger Park in the Balule Nature reserve, which borders the western boundary of the Klaserie Game Reserve with no fences. The traversing area of Tomo inside Balule has two non-perennial rivers meandering through the area and draws a diversity of wildlife and birds to this prime game viewing area. White Rhino, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant and other African animals can be discovered during the morning and evening safaris on open game drive vehicles.

The reserve has a number of superb vantage points from which sundowners are enjoyed with magnificent views of the Drakensberg mountains and the surrounding bushveld. Kwenga is a fully catered 16 bed lodge in the true African tradition and is reminiscent of a bygone era.

What to expect at the lodge/reserve

Accommodation

At Tomo Safari Lodge, personalised service is offered by the staff and an experienced ranger will plan and guide you on game drives and walking. Kwenga lodge has its own exclusive character with a homely ambiance.

From the swimming pool and outside patio area, you may sip a cocktail while keeping an eye on the various animals at the waterhole a mere 100 meters away. Whether you choose to listen to the roar of the Lions from Tomo or sip a sundowner from the pool deck or tell stories around the camp fire with your family and simply spoil yourselves with the indulgence of Tomo, we know that the spirit of the bush will linger in your souls.

The Lodge accommodates 23 guests in 8 thatched chalets. All rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated in African design. Each chalet has its own patio. All Luxury rooms have air-con and an outdoor shower over and above the normal spacious en suite bathroom. Standard rooms have fans and a normal en-suite bathroom.

Dining

Meals are served in the boma for a �dining out under the stars' experience, and one may relax after dinner around the camp fire listening to the sounds of the African night. A thatched indoor dining room and lounge with fireplace is used for dining in the event of inclement weather. On either side of the indoor dining area is a thatched patio, one overlooking the swimming pool and Drakensberg mountains, the other incorporating a friendly bar area.

GAME DRIVE SAFARIS AND BUSH WALKS

Early morning, evening game drive and walking safaris which are conducted in open 4 x 4 Safari vehicles, are included in the quoted rates. Walks and drives can be organised with the rangers. Sundowners can be enjoyed at many different scenic places. The game ranger, guides and staff at Tomo Safari Lodge are experienced and dedicated to the conservation of the Reserve.

You are encouraged to experience a bush walk where you will be amazed by the intricate wonders of the African bush. The fully inclusive rates are inclusive of accommodation, morning game drive, late afternoon / evening game drive, breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea and coffee and selected SA beverages. Other beverages/bar items are extra. Bushwalks are optional and at an additional charge. Should you wish to experience a bushwalk, you will be able to do a bushwalk in place of a morning game drive or you can do a combined bushwalk with your evening game drive.

OTHER AMENITIES

Tomo Safari Lodge is a wonderful wildlife, birding, hiking and safari destination. Within close proximity of a variety of tourism attractions as well as golfing destinations. It is close to the Orpen and Phalaborwa Gates of the Kruger National Park, the majestic Drakensberg and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon. Guided sight-seeing day trips to local tourist spots are available to our guests offering an opportunity to visit the world renowned Kruger National Park, Blyde River Canyon, Pilgrims Rest, Hoedspruit endangered species - Cheetah Breeding Project, Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and the Nyani Shangaan Tribal Village. Guest interested in this are welcome to arrange with our central reservation office to arrange such a trip for you at an additional charge.

For the golf enthusiast, the famous Hans Merensky golf course is in nearby Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit has its own challenging 9-hole, 18 tee course. Experience a game of golf while observing impala, warthog, duiker and other game grazing peacefully alongside you on the golf course.
