Whoopi Goldberg held back tears when she addressed Kamala Harris

Whoopi Goldberg got choked up when she addressed current Vice President Kamala Harris.

Kamala was on the Tuesday, October 8 episode of The View with Whoopi, cohosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and Alyssa Griffin in attendance. Kamala is currently running for president with Tim Walz as her running mate, representing the Democratic party, against former president Donald J Trump and JD Vance.

When wrapping up their segment with the current Vice President, Whoopi got a little emotional when she spoke to Kamala. The Oscar winner said that they were "honored and proud" to have Kamala sitting beside them. She took a pause before she let viewers know the show would be right back.

During her time on as a guest on the show, Kamala spoke about what was to come if she was to be the next President of the United States. She expressed that she was "very focused on" home healthcare, passionate about small businesses and immigration. Ana asked about Hurricane Helene and about Trump claiming the Biden administration was withholding aid. Ana also mentioned how Trump said that FEMA funds were being redirected to migrants.

Sunny asked Kamala if there was anything she would have done differently during her time as Vice President alongside Joe Biden. Kamala said that there was "not a thing" that came to mind but did give examples of the changes they made that impacted many. They reduced the cost of insulin and invested in American industries, to name a few.

To Kamala, her personal experience will influence and impact her possible presidency. She has been very open about her personal life and told the story of how she found out Joe was stepping down from the 2024 presidential race.

She said it started with a phone call from the President and her asking him: "Are you sure?" She told The View hosts how she was spending time with her family when Joe reached out. She was wearing workout clothes, serving breakfast and working on a puzzle with her nieces. Kamala then admitted that the first person she called was her pastor as she "needed to talk to God and to pray."
