Kamala Harris served as the 49th vice-president of the United States, serving under Joe Biden in 2021-25. She is the highest-ranking female elected official in the country’s history, as well as the first African-American and Asian-American vice-president. Harris formerly served as the attorney-general of California from 2011 to 2017, as well as a senator for California from 2017 to 2021. After Biden ended his 2024 re-election campaign, he endorsed Harris to replace him as the Democratic nominee. She lost the 2024 presidential election to the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, who began serving his second term on January 20, 2025.
