wes_thewatcher 11:46 am - Protecting Our Coming ChildI got the books that Lilah wanted me to get for her, and then even more. Being around Lilah when she is pregnant is sometimes frustrating. It's all worth it during her good moods, though, which are more frequent than the bad ones. She can also be amazingly sweet at times, doing things like rubbing her belly and talking to it when she thinks that I'm not looking. I'm smart enough to not point it out, though, or else I might bring down the wrath. Even though we were kind of expecting it, it was still shocking to find the first Wolfram & Hart flunky sniffing around our home. If anything, I think he was sent just as a spy, but that still worried me nearly to death. After we got rid of him, I started trying to work out more security for our home. Still, it never seems to be enough.

After Wes got me all the books I could ever want and then some, I started reading them as much as possible. I know that Wes was worried about Wolfram and Hart wanting to steal the baby, but I had decided to stay as positive and stress free about the whole thing as possible. I had decided after reading up on one of the books I was trying to be less bitchy when ever possible.

I'm glad that Lilah was staying positive. One of us certainly had to. I tried, but I couldn't help but worry that someone would show up and try something. They would regret it, certainly, but the fact that they would try would bother me more than anything. Hopefully, with all the magical and regular security up, we would at least have warning if someone tried to sneak up on us again.

One night while we were having dinner, one of the alarms went off. They don't go off for people like delivery boys, so that could only mean one thing. I looked over at Lilah while trying to remember which alarm it was that was going off at the moment.

So far it'd been fairly easy to stay as positive as possible. Things were going pretty well until dinner one night. I looked over at Wes. "Which alarm is it?" I didn't have to bother to ask who it was,because the alarms only went off for certain individuals.

I listened for a moment. "It's one of the magical wards," I answered. "So, they're not on top of us quite yet." I had wards set up miles away from us as a sort of early warning system. I muttered an incantation so that we wouldn't have the alarm going off in our ears while we were trying to think. "I think that one means that someone just entered the city."

I just sat there staring at him for a few moments. I hadn't realized that the wards he'd put up were quite this good or advanced. "How many wards did you put up anyway, and was one telling us that they're in the city really needed?"

"I put up enough. It's better that we know that they are at least in the city, since they really don't have any business here otherwise, with the not having a branch or any clients here." I had done my own research on them. "This is the first time it has gone off since putting them up, so it's not like it goes off every day."

He had a point, it would be helpful to know since they weren't here for business. "Alright you've got a point I guess it's not that excessive then."

At least she agreed with me. Now I'm not sure if we should wait and see if the next alarm goes off or if we should go ahead and at least clear out of the house. I didn't want to put any undue pressure on Lilah right now. "We might want to finish our dinner quickly," I suggested, to see what she would say next.

I looked at him with a raised eyebrow when he suggested that we finish dinner. "What Why can't we just wait and see if any other alarms go off?"

"Alright, we'll wait." If she had wanted to go ahead and leave, we could have left. Hopefully, we'll still have plenty of time if they decide to come any closer to our home.

I smiled at his answer and continued to eat my dinner. I know that he's worried,but the baby's not even born yet. I'm pretty sure that the firm would rather wait until the baby's born to get a hold of it.

I managed to eat my dinner, but I couldn't help but keep at least one ear open while I almost expected to hear another alarm go off. Luckily, we managed to at least get through dinner without another one going off. Hopefully they were just here for some other business. We're probably not that lucky, though.

The rest of dinner went by with no more alarms going off. I was glad that we had the chance to at least eat our dinner in peace. "You know if it is anyone from the firm, they may not even be here for us. I mean the baby's not even born yet, and I can't see why they'd want to take it before then."

"That's what I'm hoping," I say to her. "However, they might also decide that they'd rather you give birth at one of their branches so that they can have the baby right away and try to take you away."

I sighed. "That could be the case,but it's not quite as likely I don't think." At least I hope not, I love our life here and I have no intention of ever getting dragged back to Wolfram and Hart if I can help it.

I nodded when she said that she didn't think that was very likely. I can only hope that she's right, especially since I like our life the way it is right now. I'd rather not even move if we don't have to.

I gathered up my dishes and, after washing all of them, went into the nursery after Lilah. Let's see exactly what she wants done right now for it.

I was standing in the nursery looking through paint samples that we'd left on the dresser that had been shipped here by my friend Roger.

I looked over her shoulder for a moment at the paint samples. "So, which ones stand out to you?" I asked her. I myself would probably just leave the walls white, but this meant a lot to her, so I wanted to help out.

I looked at all the paint samples that Roger had left us. "I don't know I like the sunny yellow and the dusty rose colors." I told him.

I nodded when she said the colors that she liked. They sounded fine enough to me. "Maybe yellow with rose trim?" I suggested.

I smiled at him. "That sounds like a good plan." I put the two swatches together,then decided to call Roger and have him get us the colors,so that we could start painting tomorrow at the earliest.
