_9:13 pm_[aed_sawin] | On camping... Ever so glad we organized as a "group" last year to get the group campsite. A far stretch better than the regular sights, a lot quieter, and you could actually pretend you were out in the woods away from civilization. Especially with the bear warnings. That is you can pretened, until you inevitably have to get up in the middle of the freezing night to run to the bathroom and you realize you really are out in the middle of no-where. This is, of course, because having to get up in the middle of the night only happens when you will be the most uncomfortable, and that is when you're sleeping in the cold and have to travel a good couple of minutes to reach the bathroom. Or maybe that's just me. We found a rock that looks exactly like a single-masted pirate ship, complete with poop deck and a pine-tree sail, and the loop around the waterfalls took a lot less time and a lot less out of us all. I'd like to think it was because we took a nice warm up loop before doing the verticals. That and maybe we're all in better shape? Unfortunately, it was too cold to swim for me most of the time. Some people braved the water like Jule Anne, queen of the northern climes, who went swimming every day and laid out in the sun while I shivered around in three layers. I'm sure Dan will give us a nice run-down of the games we played, and since he was keeping score, who won over-all. :) Though, I must admit that there was much treachery and back-stabbing in the games, and for some reason the traitorous persons had strange resemblance to Jesus. (Tim and Justin, incase you're wondering, though Justin lacks the long locks these days.) I have decided that I need to find a way to get recording of sounds from around the camp-sight. From Jule Anne's chipper repletion of "Bubbles!" to Aaron's inspired spoken-word reading of my Kiln text to Tim's strumming. Some sort of mix of these random things could be very interesting. _12:20 pm_[juleakab] | cottage in olean ok, i talked to my sister-in-law and she talked to her dad, and here's the verdict:if we leave it too late, the pipes will freeze and we won't be able to use the toilet. so, the weekend of october 1-2 is our best bet. but we can use it, no problem. who's in? _11:21 pm_[juleakab] | greater frequency of gatherings so, my sister-in-law says her grandparents have a cottage near olean that they use maybe 2 weeks out of the summer. it's in a secluded woody area, and has a gorgeous view of hills with trees. it has 6 bedrooms and at least 8 beds, as well as much floor space for extra sleeping bags. she thinks they might be willing to loan us this lovely space, especially if we offer a few bucks for electicity. i was thinking it might be nice to go for a weekend in october when the leaves are in colour and the pipes haven't frozen yet. there is a TV and an DVD player, too, for mellow evenings. what say you? _10:00 am_[juleakab] | Y'arr! ok, so I started up a Yarr livejournal. this is it. go ahead and complain about all the stuff i did wrong, and maybe i'll fix some of it. i already changed the userpic once, so hopefully the new one is more agreeable to everyone.if you were on this year's camping trip, i have already invited you to join, so all you have to do is go to the invites page and accept the invitation. i also invited other people that i know were part of the group at other times. if you don't have an invite, then go to the userinfo page and click where it says "to join this community click here". you should also send me an email letting me know who you are so i know to approve you.also, don't forget to click the "watch this community" box as well as joining. that makes community entries show up on your friends page.i posted my pictures from the camping trip on my website. if anyone else would like to share their photos, please post the links here, so we can all share.( here are a few pictures for those who are too impatient or lazy to go all the way across the internet to my websiteCollapse ) (1 Comment |Comment on this) |
