Yes, an improvement of this magnitude is certainly worth considering for a backport. However, I think we should let this age a bit on mainline; we want to see if there are any side-effects. Depending on how quickly we move on 4.2.0, this might wait for 4.2.1.

Makes sense, for now I am adding this to Pardus Linux gcc 4.2 package to test.
