EGG [University of Tokyo]
EGG (re-Entry satellite with Gossamer aeroshell and Gps/Iridium) is a 3U Cubesat built the University of Tokyo to test a deployable gossamer aeroshell for reentry.
The satellite will deploy a 60 cm gossamer aeroshell.
Also on board will be a GPS receiver for position determination and an Iridium modem for communication via the Iridium constellation.
The satellite was launched on board of HTV 6 on an H-2B-304 rocket to be delivered to the ISS, from where it was deployed on 16 January 2017.
After deployment of the aeroshell, the orbit began rapidly to decay as intended, leading to reentry on 5 February 2017.
