Our Utah dinosaur comes to visit California! In the summer of 1996, MJC Geology students discovered the cervical vertebrae of a Camarasaurus in the Utah desert near Green River. It was excavated by the Utah Geological Survey, and will now be on semi-permanent loan at the Great Valley Museum in Modesto. Come and visit! Get the story of our discovery here! MJC sponsored the Fall 1998 Conference of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. . Conference speakers were **Royal Robbins,**and John Tinsley of the U.S.Geologic Survey. Our first dinosaur (a zephyrosaurus) is on virtual display at the Museum of the Rockies! The specimen of this very rare species was found by students Heather and Michael Niemi in 1994. Click here to see it!
Fundraising Effort for Geology Field Studies Scholarship Fund: We are trying to ease the financial burden for geology majors who wish to attend field studies classes. We have not yet opened a combination rock shop - car wash, but we may have bake sales and rummage sales. Contact us for information about tax deductible contributions to the fund.
