Other/historical names associated with this locality:

Neer City Road

The main zeolite collecting site is located approximately 50 meters up Neer Road from its intersection with Highway 30. This is the proper nomenclature for what is most often just called "Goble". There are several other specific localities in the Goble area. Today, Neer Road is known as Neer City Road.

The rock is composed of Eocene porphyritic olivine basalt. The flows have highly vesicular tops and brecciated and vesicular bases. Common zeolites, thomsonite, mesolite, chabazite, cowlesite, garronite, heulandite are abundant in the upper vesicular area and brecciated/vesicular bases. The rare zeolites, tschernichite and boggsite, and high silica minerals, mordenite, chalcedony, erionite, and okenite are found in the poorly vesicular center of one flow in an area no larger than 2 × 3 × 9 meters that is known as the Neer Road pit.
