Die blaue Blume ist ein zentrales Symbol der Romantik. Sie steht für Sehnsucht und Liebe und für das metaphysische Streben nach dem Unendlichen. Die blaue Blume wurde später auch ein Sinnbild der Sehnsucht nach der Ferne und ein Symbol der Wanderschaft.
