هونورا أيدجورث (بالإنجليزية: Honora Sneyd) (المعروفة باسم سنييد)، كاتبة إنكليزية عاشت في القرن الثامن عشر في الفترة الممتدة بين (1751-1780)، عُرفت بشكل أساسيّ بارتباطها مع الشخصيات الأدبية المعروفة في ذلك الوقت، خاصة «آنا سيوارد» و«المجتمع القمري» –نادٍ ومجتمعٌ علمي غير رسمي من صناعيين وفلاسفة طبيعة ومفكرين– بالإضافة لعملها في تعليم الأطفال. وُلِدت سنييد في مدينة باث عام 1751، وبعد وفاة والدتها عام 1756، نشأت في كنف «توماس سيوارد» وزوجته «إليزابيث» في مدينة ليتشفيلد في مقاطعة ستارفوردشاير حتى عام 1771 حين عادت لمنزل والدها. أثناء فترة رعايتها، تشكّلت بين هونورا وآنا سيوارد –ابنة توماس وإليزابيث– علاقة وثيقة جدًا. بعد فترة خطوبة رومانسية جدًا جمعتها مع «جون آندريه» ورفضها لعرض «توماس دي»، تزوّجت هونورا في عام 1773 من «ريتشارد أيدجورث» كزوجة ثانية له، وعاشت معه حتى عام 1776 في مزرعة عائلية في ايرلندا. وبالإضافة لتربية وطفلاها التي أنجبتهما منه، فقد ساعدته في تربية أولاده من زوجته الأولى بمن فيهم «ماريا إيدجوورث». عند عودتها إلى إنجلترا، عانت هونورا من مرض السل، والذي كان غير قابل للشفاء لتموت على إثره عام 1780 في مدينة ويستون في ستارفوردشاير. كانت هونورا موضوعًا لعدد من قصائد «آنا سيوارد»، وقام زوجها بتطوير مفاهيم تعليم الطفولة، نتج عن ذلك كله سلسلة من الكتب ك (التعليم العملي) المبنيّ على ملاحظاتها لأطفال إيدجوورث. عُرفت هونورا بموقفها على حقوق المرأة عبر رفضها الحاد للاقتراح المُقدّم في اليوم التي لخّصت فيه وجهة نظرها بموضوع المساواة في الزواج. كانت هونورا الابنة الثالثة لوالدها «إدوارد سنييد» الذي عاش في ستارفوردشاير ووالدتها «سوزانا كوك» من إيسكس. عمل والدها رائدًا في الحرس الملكي للخيول، ونُصّبَ في المحكمة كحاجبٍ نبيل، تزوّج والدها عام 1742، كانت هونورا واحدةً من ثمانية أطفال والابنة الثانية من أصل ستة على قيد الحياة. عندما توفيت والدتها عام 1757، كانت هونورا تبلغ من العمر ست سنوات فقط عندما وجد والدها نفسه غير قادر على رعاية جميع أبنائه. ثم عرض على العديد من الأصدقاء والعلاقات استقبالهم. (ar) Honora Edgeworth (née Sneyd; 1751 – 1 May 1780) was an eighteenth-century English writer, mainly known for her associations with literary figures of the day particularly Anna Seward and the Lunar Society, and for her work on children's education. Sneyd was born in Bath in 1751, and following the death of her mother in 1756 was raised by Canon Thomas Seward and his wife Elizabeth in Lichfield, Staffordshire until she returned to her father's house in 1771. There, she formed a close friendship with their daughter, Anna Seward. Having had a romantic engagement to John André and having declined the hand of Thomas Day, she married Richard Edgeworth as his second wife in 1773, living on the family estate in Ireland till 1776. There she helped raise his children from his first marriage, including Maria Edgeworth, and two children of her own. Returning to England she fell ill with tuberculosis, which was incurable, dying at Weston in Staffordshire in 1780. She is the subject of a number of Anna Seward's poems, and with her husband developed concepts of childhood education, resulting in a series of books, such as Practical Education, based on her observations of the Edgeworth children. She is known for her stand on women's rights through her vigorous rejection of the proposal by Day, in which she outlined her views on equality in marriage. (en) |

Sneyd was born in Bath in 1751, and following the death of her mother in 1756 was raised by Canon Thomas Seward and his wife Elizabeth in Lichfield, Staffordshire until she returned to her father's house in 1771. There, she formed a close friendship with their daughter, Anna Seward. Having had a romantic engagement to John André and having declined the hand of Thomas Day, she married Richard Edgeworth as his second wife in 1773, living on the family estate in Ireland till 1776.
