Infill development differs in its specificity because it describes buildings that are constructed on vacant or underused property or between existing buildings. Terms describing types of redevelopment that don't involve using vacant land should not be confused with infill development. С точки зрения местных жителей, уплотнительная застройка мотивирована исключительно стремлением инвестора получить дополнительную прибыль и часто воспринимается как отклонение от градостроительного плана. Их сопротивление точечной застройке и конфликты с застройщиками вызваны тем, что уплотнение застройки зачастую чревато ухудшением качества проживания для жителей прилегающих к строительству домов.
