Jan van Nost (fallecido en Londres en agosto de 1710) fue un escultor flamenco, de Malinas. Estuvo empleado en el taller de , y al fallecimiento de éste se casó con su viuda. Se trasladó a Inglaterra a finales del siglo XVII, donde se estableció en Haymarket. Fue prolífico y recibió numerosos encargos, incluyendo trabajos en Melbourne Hall en Derbyshire, en el Castillo de Howard, de Palacio de Buckingham y la Chatsworth House. Il mourut en 1710. Il avait épousé la veuve d'Arnold Quellin. On le retrouve à Londres dans l'atelier de Grinling Gibbons en compagnie de ses compatriotes comme Arnold Quellin, fils d'Artus Quellinus le Jeune, Laurent Vander Meulen, également malinois, Antoon Verhuke, ou Pierre Van Dievoet. Il ouvrit ensuite son propre atelier à Haymarket à Londres qui eut une production importante. Il prit comme apprenti son neveu John Van Nost, décédé en 1780 qui continua l'atelier et s'installa ensuite à Dublin. (fr) |
