S. Poniman (5 July 1910 – 1 January 1978) was an Indonesian kroncong singer and comic actor. Born in Banda Aceh in 1910, he took up singing and made his way to Batavia (now Jakarta). In 1940 he made his debut as music director and actor on the film Kedok Ketawa, completing three further productions before the Japanese occupation brought film production to a near-standstill. Poniman spent time as a soldier and truck driver before returning to the film industry in 1951, after Indonesia's independence, as a star of Dunia Gila. Between 1951 and 1958 he appeared in more than twenty films before leaving the struggling industry to become a trader. Though he appeared in several further films before his death, Poniman never regained his stardom.

Pertama kali ia terjun ke dunia film pada tahun 1940. Ia juga sempat menjadi pimpinan perusahaan "Poniman Show and Film" yang telah menghasilkan beberapa buah film dokumenter. S. Poniman menempuh pendidikan di Inlandsche School. Sebelum ke film Poniman sudah terkenal sebagai penyanyi keroncong, pemain drama dan pelawak. Tahun 1940 ia terjun ke film sebagai figuran dalam "Kedok Ketawa", dilanjutkan dalam Siti Noerbaja (1941), Djantoeng Hati (1941). Tahun 1951 Poniman mulai memegang Peran Utama dalam film "Dunia Gila" bersama Rd. Mochtar dan Titin Sumarni. Film-film selanjutnya antara lain Pahit Pahit Manis (1952), Putri Solo (1953), Lenggang Djakarta (1953), Konde Tjioda (1953), Gula Guli (1953) Mertua Sinting ( 1954), Masuk Kampung Keluar Kampung (1955), Setulus Hatiku (1955), Apa Jang Kunanti (1957). Pada zaman perjuangan kemerdekaan, Poniman turut memanggul senjata dan pada tahun 1950-an pernah menjadi sopir truk Jakarta-Semarang. Antara tahun 1958 hingga 1971 ia mengalihkan profesinya menjadi pedagang. Tahun 1972 Poniman kembali bermain lewat film Sisa Sisa Laskar Pajang (1972). Film-filmnya yang terakhir adalah Aku Mau Hidup (1974), Putri Solo (1974), Rahasia Perawan (1975). Di luar sebagai pemain ia juga memimpin perusahaan Poniman Show and Film yang telah menghasilkan beberapa buah film dokumenter. Ia juga aktif sebagai Juru Foto sejak 1969. Poniman meninggal pada tanggal 1 Januari 1978 setelah sebelumnya jatuh pingsan di pemakaman Ratmi B-29. (in) S.
