It was the home of the Scarlets region and Llanelli RFC rugby teams. The stadium was a combination of seating and standing with a total capacity of 10,800 (22,500 before 1990). Following the Scarlets' move to Parc y Scarlets in 2008, Stradey Park was demolished two years later and replaced with housing. Fu anche sede di diversi incontri internazionali del Galles e ospitò due edizioni della Coppa del Mondo di rugby, nel 1991 e nel 1999. Na stadionie zespół podejmował także zespoły reprezentacyjne Tonga, Australii, Nową Zelandię czy . Ostatni mecz na stadionie został rozegrany 24 października 2008 roku. W ciągu 129 lat istnienia obiektu rozegrano na nim ponad dwa i pół tysiąca spotkań. Rozgrywano na nim również zawody takich dyscyplin jak piłka nożna, push-ball czy rugby league. Jako domowy obiekt i Scarlets został zastąpiony przez Parc y Scarlets, na który przeniesiono zabytkową bramę oraz zegar i tablicę wyników. Mieszczący 10 800 widzów stadion został zburzony w 2010 roku, a teren przeznaczono pod zabudowę mieszkaniową. (pl) |
