Enlisted in the Army in 1916 and served with during World War I. After two years the forward returned to Williamstown in <1919>, then signed for Melbourne the next year.

Played with in the in <1922>.

He died while driving horses in North West Victoria in <1929>, when he was thrown to the ground and the attached wagon passed over his chest.
