When U.S. 177 was extended southward, that designation replaced OK 18 between Dickson and Shawnee. **Highway Review:**OK 18 was once one of Oklahoma's longest north-south highways, as its southern terminus was at U.S. 70 (now OK 199) near Dickson. Its southern terminus is now at an interchange with U.S. 177/270/OK 3W west of Shawnee. OK 18 north of OK 3E is known as Harrison St. throughout Shawnee. From there, OK 18 heads towards Meeker and an intersection with U.S. 62. Six miles north of Meeker, OK 18 spawns off its only lettered route, OK 18B, serving the town of Sparks. After that, OK 18 enters Chandler duplexed with OK 66. The two highways head through Chandler's business district before splitting. OK 18 intersects Interstate 44 and then heads towards Agra. OK 105's eastern terminus is located at OK 18 south of Agra. OK 18 then becomes duplexed with OK 33 and the highways head into Cushing before OK 18 heads off on its own. OK 18 also has an intersection with U.S. 412/Cimarron Turnpike. South of Pawnee, OK 18 joins U.S. 64 for two miles as the highways enter Pawnee County's seat duplexed. After leaving Pawnee OK 18 is relatively desolate for the remainder of its route. It goes through Ralston, where it crosses the Arkansas River and intersects OK 20. Just two towns, but almost 40 miles, remain between OK 20 and the Kansas State Line as OK 18 goes through the Osage Indian Reservation. OK 11 joins OK 18 at U.S. 60 and the two highways wind their way duplexed for almost nine miles before OK 11 heads west in Shidler. Sixteen miles after leaving Shidler, OK 18 becomes KS 15 and the highway now makes its way towards Wichita.
