The Hsiang River (Xiang) is a major tributary of the Yangtze River. It arises from the mountains of northeast Kwangsi province and passes through central Hunan before reaching the Yangtze via Lake Tunting (Donting). The river is navigable to oceangoing vessels as far as Changsha and to river barges at least as far as far as Hengyang.
