Lord Claud Hamilton was born on 27 July 1813.1 He was the son of James Hamilton, Viscount Hamilton and Harriet Douglas.1 He married Lady Elizabeth Emma Proby, daughter of Admiral Granville Leveson Proby, 3rd Earl of Carysfort and Isabella Howard, on 7 August 1844.1 He died on 3 June 1884 at age 70.1
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Tyrone between 1835 and 1837.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Tyrone between 1839 and 1874.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 27 February 1852.1,2 He held the office of Vice-Chamberlain of the Household between 1866 and 1868.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 19 July 1867 in the Donegal Militia.2

Admiral Granville Leveson Proby, 3rd Earl of Carysfort was born on 12 November 1782 at Stamford, Lincolnshire, EnglandG. Hugh Howard and Catherine Bligh, on 5 April 1818 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.2 He died on 3 November 1868 at age 85 at Elton Hall, Huntingdonshire, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 8 January 1869, at under £60,000 in England and £140,000 in Ireland.2
