Major James Leith, V.C. was born on 26 May 1826 at Glenkindle, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1,2 He was the son of General Sir Alexander Leith of Freefield and Glenkindie and Maria Thorp.1 He married Isabella Shaw, daughter of Thomas Shaw, on 8 September 1863.1 He died on 13 May 1869 at age 42 at Hyde Park, London, EnglandG.1,2 He was buried at Towie Church, Glenkindle, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.2
He fought in the Indian Mutiny.2 He was Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 24 December 1858.1,2 He gained the rank of Major in the Scots Greys and 14th Hussars.1

Isabella Shaw was the daughter of Thomas Shaw.1 She married, firstly, Major James Leith, V.C., son of General Sir Alexander Leith of Freefield and Glenkindie and Maria Thorp, on 8 September 1863.1 She married, secondly, Colonel Hon. John Scott Napier, son of Francis Napier, 10th Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Anne Jane Charlotte Lockwood, on 6 April 1876.1 She died on 12 November 1928.1
From 8 September 1863, her married name became Leith.1 From 6 April 1876, her married name became Napier.1

From 28 July 1894, her married name became Crosbie.

Brig.-Gen. James Dayrolles Crosbie was born on 19 August 1865.1 He was the son of Colonel James Crosbie and Rosa Lister-Kaye.2,1 He married Maria Caroline Leith, daughter of Major James Leith, V.C. and Isabella Shaw, on 28 July 1894.3 He died on 18 December 1947 at age 82.3

Charles Daniel Boyd1

Charles Daniel Boyd was born on 10 September 1859.1 He was the son of Thomas Boyd and Frances Thorpe.2 He died on 8 August 1880 at age 20, killed in the Chilcomb tragedy (during the Land League troubles), in which his father and brother were wounded.3
