Captain Charles Antony Lyell, 2nd Baron Lyell, V.C. was born on 14 June 1913.1 He was the son of Major Hon. Charles Henry Lyell and Rosalind Margaret Watney.2 He married Sophie Mary Trafford, daughter of Major Sigismund William Joseph Trafford and Lady Elizabeth Constance Mary Bertie, on 4 July 1938.2 He died on 27 April 1943 at age 29 at TunisiaG, killed in action.1
He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Lyell, of Kinnordy, co. Forfar [U.K., 1894] on 18 September 1926.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Lyell, of Kinnordy, co. Forfar [U.K., 1914] on 18 September 1926.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Scots Guards.1 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 12 August 1943 posthumously, for his actions on 27 April 1943.3
