Convoy OA 105 (OG 21) (original) (raw)

CONVOY OA 105G Joined Convoy OB 105 at sea (separate cruising order not available), the combined convoy forming Convoy OG 21

Convoy OA 105 Cruising Order Departed Southend on March 7-1940, joined up with Convoy OB 105 (which had left Liverpool on March 9-1940) and formed OG 21 at sea on March 11, arriving Gibraltar on March 17 (Arnold Hague gives 25 ships in OA 105G, 20 ships for OB 105, 29 ships for OG 21).
All 3 forms received from Tony Cooper, England (his source: Public Records Office, Kew). For some more details on OA convoys, please see my page about OA 92. My page for OB 169 has more information on the OB series. See also the external link at the end of this page. See also the HG convoys (Gibraltar-U.K.) from the same time period. To distinguish new ships from those already listed above, I've left cargo and destination out for the repeated ships (coastal ships had detached). Br=British, Norw=Norwegian, La=Latvian, Gr=Greek.

The ships in column 1 are very difficult to decipher - hence my question marks.* There's a note for Magdalena which is very difficult to decipher, but it looks like it says she lost touch. ** Ship in station 53 is listed as Artimisia, should probably be Br. Artemisia. Ship in station 83 is listed as Bayana. *** Ship in station 94 is given as Panakis.
