She was sold on Nov. 24-1942 ('41?) and deleted from Nortraship's register. According to the external website linked to below she was in use by the U.S. Coast Guard as Belmont (WYP 341) from Dec. 14-1942 to Oct. 18-1945, stationed at Balboa, Canal Zone and Miami, Florida - sold Nov.-1946. According to the external website that I've linked to below, she was used by the U.S. Coast Guard as Bodega WYP 342 from Nov.-1942 to Dec.-1943. The site says that the Coast Guard acquired Thordr for duty in Greenland but she was instead assigned to the Caribbean "because of her wetness" (the Coast Guard crews found her crowded and wet). Bodega was stationed on the East Coast and at Balboa, Canal Zone where she operated in the Caribbean. Abandoned on Dec. 20-1943 after having stranded while attempting to rescue the crew of James Withycombe. The 2nd website that I've linked to below has further details on this. This text states that Buttermere (ex-Kos XXV), launched June 30, 1939, became mercantile Tiern in 1948, and Kos XVIII also became Tiern at some point. WW II: Captain Edvard Hauff Gundersen. Spotted by the German raider Atlantis on June 10-1940, southeast of Mauritius, about 23S 69E, while on a voyage from Sydney and Melbourne to Mombasa and the UK, with a cargo of flour, wheat, wool and 178 military vehicles.
