Above the centre of the Seventh Gate of the Orfalch Echor, the Gate of Steel, a huge image of the King-helm was set, surrounded by diamonds. Notes 1 Our only reference to the King-helm associates it with the Hidden City of Gondolin, but Turgon may have worn it earlier in history. Before Gondolin was established, Turgon ruled in Nevrast from the time of his coming to Beleriand as the Sun first rose, a period of some [116 years](../chronicle.htm?startyear=1&startage=1&endyear=116&endage=1&c=The Rule of Turgon in Nevrast) before his people resettled in Gondolin. It is not said whether Turgon wore the King-helm (nor indeed whether it existed at all) during this earlier period of rule in Nevrast. See also...
