Though Túrin had merely defended himself against Saeros, he considered himself banished from Doriath for slaying the Elf. Notes 1 Túrin chose the name Neithan, the Wronged, when he first encountered the outlaws of the Gaurwaith in I 484 (when he would have been twenty years old). We're told that he continued to use the name throughout the time that the outlaws knew him, which would equate to the next [five years](../chronicle.html?startyear=484&startage=1&endyear=489&endage=1&c=Túrin's time among the Gaurwaith) until the band's destruction in I 489.
