Ne-Yo was born Shaffer C. Smith in Arkansas but raised in Las Vegas. Ne-Yo found success as a songwriter before attempting his own solo music career and has written tracks for such artists as Mary J. Blige, Beyonc�, Rihanna, Faith Evans,Fabolous, and B2K, and co-writing (with Scott Storch and Kam Houf) Mario's #1 hit "Let Me Love You."
