Mario Winans musical heritage is strong as a member of the Winans gospel family and son of Vickie Winans and Marvin Winans. From an early age, Mario was focused on music, most notably percussion. Mario's interest in music led to producing including the production of a local gospel group's LP when Mario had just graduated from high school. Mario's production talents led him to work with producer Dallas Austin and R. Kelly. Recording his own music began with Motown Records and then P. Diddy's Bad Boy label. Over the years, Mario "Yellow Man" Winans had produced some of the biggest artists in hip-hop and R&B including: Mary J. Blige, Beyonc� Knowles, Queen Latifah, Brian McKnight, Tamia,702, 3LW, Jennifer Lopez, 112, Lil' Kim, and his family.
Mario released his debut LP Story Of My Heart. The LP stirred little interest.
Mario could be heard on Puff Daddy's LP Forever on the track "Best Friend."
