| | It's that time of the year once again!I actually wrote quite a huge post about the calendars but everything vanished as a clicked on a wrong button and went to another webpage...when I returned back to LJ everything was gone of course...so here goes AGAIN!**Desktop calendars:**1-Kiki's delivery service for the 5th year in a row! it has turned into a collection; I use them more as decorative figures than calendars, but hey! This is how it's supposed to be to start with, and what makes them interesting: when the year ends, you can still use them as deco, photo's frame and so on2-The Rose of Versailles! HUGE surprise! I never thought I would ever see something like that! It was released for the 40th anniversary since the end of the manga (1973-2013). I am a big big BIG nostalgic and totally the type to look back at the anime I watched when I was younger to whom I am really attached.It's a weekly calendar (53 weeks) in the format of a square, and since the pages (112 pages, double faced, which makes 56 sheets) can also be used as postcards/notes/cards I suspect it to be 15/16cm. For the lucky people who knows japanese, you will also be able to enjoy quotes and scenes from the manga~**Wall calendars:**1-Yet another big surprise I wasn't expecting! The Twelve Kingdoms!!!!!! I'm a HUGE fan! If you don't know about it, WATCH it NOW! And read it too! The novels are amazing! The 7 pages are actually illustrations from the covers of the latest edition of the novels released very recently in Japan.2-One Piece!! This is my 2nd time buying a OP calendar. I really like how large it is: my desk is facing a wall, so I hang it right in front and because of it's size, it covers most of the space in front of me, it's a good deco, the artworks are always very detailed, funny and cheerful~Why, still, buy 2 wall calendars? Kiki's is only a 14cm tall figure and Rose of Versailles is just a bunch of sheets postcards sized, so buying both is really not a big deal in the end, but TWO decently sized wall calendars? Well, it's because they only have 7 pages each = 2 months per page, and experience showed me that having the exact same picture in front on me, on my desk, for a whole year is surprisingly boring (this is what I did last year buying only the Pandora Hearts 2013 calendar), so I'll be switching between this one and the Twelve Kingdoms one...Tags:calendar, calendar 2013, kiki delivery service, one piece, rose of versailles, twelve kingdoms And here goes the 2nd package out of four I've been waiting for: ONE PIECE 2011 Calendar!! XDOne word: HUGEIt's unmistakably the biggest calendar I've owned so far :D I took a picture with my Newtype mags to give you an idea (and the Newtype is a big magazine itself), though in the end it wasn't good idea: because of the perspective, it gave off a weird effect, with the Ntype in first plan looking bigger than it should comparing to the calendar =__=The actual dimensions are 59.4cm x 42cm, aka A2 format.There are 7 pages in total, including the transparent like one which somehow act as some sort of cover, right above the first page (January/February) as you can see on above photo.Just like for the DGM calendar, no scanning from my side, because it's too big for my scanner anyway, but also and more than anything because all these pics are part of the manga, those are all double splash color pages, nothing new as far as I could tell.All in all, it's a very pretty calendar with great art and I'm glad I bought it ^__^ I don't know how to explain it really well, but it got a very cheerful feeling to it that makes you smile when watching the artworks :D This is One Piece for ya! For the ones unfamiliar with it, it's Ghibli's very latest animation (by Miyazaki), yet another adaptation from a novel.This is a SURE buy. Although I confess I was tempted by half a million other schedule books...Already available since September 4th.And now come to difficult part: the 2011 wall calendars; I know too many anime/manga and follow yet too many others, so choosing is Hell every year since out of a listing with hundred of anime/manga calendars, I know most, not to say all, of them ;__;Here are the most likely candidates though:ONE PIECE 2011 calendarWhy am I hesitating? --> for the ones following the manga, you must now there was a 2 years jump in the future in which all the crew aged and changed their looks. My problem is that I don't think recent pics will be included in this calendar, since such pics do not exist as far as I know, meaning I'll be stuck all 2011 watching artworks (very beautiful ones though) of their 'past selves 2 years ago' ^^;;Release date: November 11thＤ．Ｇｒａｙ-ｍａｎ コミックカレンダー２０１１Why am I hesitating? I'm actually not too sure myself. In the past, I bought a desktop DGM calendar, never a wall type one. I'm still reading the chapters as they are released monthly but I can't say I'm 'passionate' about it either. That said, after following a manga for a long time, it's inevitable, you enter in some sort of routine at some point: it's not that you don't enjoy it anymore, you still love it and read it, but you are just past the phase in which you lurk forums in search of spoilers or hunting down every goodies released. I've always added up the MF calendars in my wishlists but never ended up buying any of them...why? First, I like calendars with mangaka's artworks, not anime.
