The introduction of computers in the newsroom has been a gradually developing process that must be traced back to early computing devices. Later advances included inventions by John Napier, Blaise Pascal, and Charles Babbage. A breakthrough in computing was the invention of Herman Hollerith's Tabulator and Sorter. Soon after, Howard Aiken developed the Mark I computer. By the 1950s, the computing revolution had begun. The first actual instance of computer assisting reporting was with the 1952 presidential election when CBS employed the Remington Rand UNIVAC to predict the outcome of the race between Eisenhower and Stevenson. A decade later several pioneers such as Philip Meyer and Elliot Jaspin began to successfully initiate new computing techniques for reporting. Computer- assisted news reports by Clarence Jones, David Burnham, Don Barlett, and James Steele soon followed. By the 1980s microcomputers became commonplace and their introduction into newsrooms occurred in several stages: first, individual reporters bought their own computers; later, organizations purchased them; initially microcomputers were primarily used for word processing but one of the newer purposes was to connect to online databases. Computer- assisted reporting has recently found great success in newsrooms across the country, but it only came about because of the initiative of a few pioneers. For computer-assisted journalism to become so successful, it was necessary for basic reporting skills to already be in place.

The history of political participation in the more than half a century of Nigeria’s existence as a sovereign nation-state is a chronicle of political uncertainties, this is because of the inconsistencies associated with Electoral Management Body, the media and the voters as individuals.

Influence of Radio Programme On Attitude Of Married Men To Family Planning Practice in Osun State , 2021
Population increase has become a thing of great concern for economic planners, demographers and e... more Population increase has become a thing of great concern for economic planners, demographers and even
government agents. As world population moves towards 5.9 billions, the per capital production of money basic
commodities is falling, for instance the recent global food shortage is an evidence (Population Report, 2006). The
effort to raise incomes and living standard is falling in many countries like Nigeria, particularly where population is
growing most rapidly and where family planning is not fully practiced.
The world population has been growing rapidly since the 1960s to reach close to 7 billion today, and future
projections show that the world will exceed 8, 9 and 10 billion by 2023, 2041 and 2083, respectively [Rosenberg M
(2012)]. This remarkable development in population is a product of increasing fertility and the unprecedented
decline in death rates among the developing countries due to improved medical and health care facilities [Manali
(2012)]. In 2009, fertility rate was reported to be 2.5 worldwide, 2.2 in America and Asia, 1.6 in Europe, 4.6 in
Africa, 6.4 in DRC, 4.6 in Kenya, and 5.25 in Nigeria. Nigerian population density grew from 321 people per square
kilometer in 2002 to 416 in 2012, the highest in Africa. This makes Nigeria the third most densely populated
country in the world, after South Korea and Rwanda [World Bank. Report on contraceptive prevalence (% of
Women ages 15-49) in Africa].
The rate at which the world population is growing creates a great concern to the international community. It is
this reason that the United Nations held a number of conferences to discuss measures to control world
population growth. The most influential conference was the 1994 International Conference on Population and
Development (ICPD) held in Cairo; the conference reached an agreement on the urgent need to control global
population growth. Among others, the 20 year ICPD Program of Action declared Family Planning Methods use as
one of the critical approaches to be initiated by United Nations member states as a way of regulating world
population. In 2009, contraceptive level was 62 in the world, 75 in America, 66 in Asia, 70 in Europe, 82 in
Oceania, 29 in Africa, and 21 in Sub-Saharan Africa [Bankole (2011)].

nationwide anti-police protest with concentration on Special Anti-Robbery Squad [SARS]. The
protests were majorly anchored by Nigerian youths.
The work is limited to Offa Local Government of Kwara State.
Six relevant objectives with the same number of researchable questions/hypotheses were
enumerated, answered and tested. Simple random sampling technique was employed to select
one hundred (100) participants from the target population. Questionnaire is the research, data
gathering instrument and data gathered were analyzed in tabular form. The empirical findings
revealed that that an overwhelming majority of young adults use smart phones in Nigeria. The
most patronised mobile phones among young adults include Samsung, Infinix, Gionee, IPhones
and Techno. The most expensive mobile phone among these mobile phones is IPhones,
followed by Samsung, Gionee, Techno and Infinix.
Also, that the #EndSARS protests began with a focus on police brutality, but have extended to
other dimensions of corruption, human rights violations and underdevelopment in Nigeria. Not
necessarily seeking to topple Nigeria or even the Buhari regime, (there are other groups in the
country much more focused on this) the #ENDSARS protests sought to make Nigerian
citizenship mean something tangible and worthwhile for young people.
The researcher makes sufficient conclusions and recommendations as to how the SD goal could
be achieved.
Internet and Social Media Usage Pattern Among Students of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State , 2021

matter the field; there is the need for exchange of information to ensure completion of task. Inefficiency
will be the results, where this exchange of information is slow or there is a break down. For this reason,
information is regarded as vital resources that need to be properly developed, because it has
boomerang effect on society. Consequently, a society that has poor communication and information
infrastructure perpetually lags behind others that hard efficient information infrastructure.
Rural radio as an powerful source of information at grass-root level helps to achieved development in
the rural areas, as issues of development are aired to audience in the form of various programs and
individual are exposes to happenings in and around their society, through listening to these programme
communication serves as the basic element of interaction and information sharing in life.
This study was also necessitated by this inquisitiveness: wanting to know whether Harmony 103.5 FM as
a rural/community radio played its rightful role, or whether something else was to blame for the state of
affairs in many rural communities ravaged by all sorts of developmental problems. The study hence
sought to assess the contribution of the radio for rural development in Kwara.
It should be remembered that communication creates pool of ideas, strengthens the feeling of
togetherness, the exchange of messages and translates through thoughts, into action. Radio
communication educates on new issues inherent in the society. For example, issues on politics, business,
current affairs e.t.c, are aired to create awareness. Radio serves as an agent of social mobilization;
people are moved to delivering a certain goal, based on their awareness of their rights and
responsibilities to the society.
Thus this study examines the place of Harmony FM Idofian, Kwara State in rural development, with a
focus on Offa, headquarter of Offa Local Government in the same state.
The beneficiaries of the study would be policymakers, government parastatals and their officers,
journalists [under tutelage, budding and accomplished], media practitioners and the academia.

agreement to reduce poverty and human deprivation at historically unprecedented rates
through collaborative multilateral action. They differ from all other global promises for poverty
reduction in their comprehensive nature and the systematic efforts taken to specify, finance,
implement, monitor and advocate them.
SDG 8 calls for promoting ‘sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and
productive employment and decent work for all’. Even as it highlights the importance of labour
rights for all, it also makes visible some significant tensions. We note, for example, that despite
many critiques of narrow economic measures of growth, the focus here remains on GDP and
per capita growth. This is problematic, we argue, because the GDP productive boundary
excludes much of social reproductive work. This puts SDG8 in tension with SDG 5 which calls for
the recognition of the value of unpaid care and domestic work. There has been a significant
increase in the rate of working women in the formal and informal sector.

The media to this regard is generally believed to have championed and promoted political participation and ease of democratic government across the geographical reach of their transmission and distribution.

programme which forms part of the approved academic standard in the degree programme for
Nigeria University.
In 1974, the federal government of Nigeria introduced the national policy on industrial training,
called the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
This programmes is under the umbrella of the ministry of education through the industrial
training fund (ITF), was designed to help students acquire the necessary practical
education/experience in their field of study and other related professions.
This is an effort which was created on order to bridge the existing gap between the theory
taught in the classroom and practice of science, agriculture, medicine, engineering, technology
and other professional programmes in the Nigeria tertiary institution.
The programme was established basically to impact elaborate practical understanding to
students with respect to their various disciplines.
This report is a summary of the experience I acquired during my Students' Industrial Work
Experience Scheme (SIWES) in Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya, Ibadan. I served as an intern in the
News Department of the organization.
Among others, the 20 year ICPD Program of Action declared Family Planning Methods use as
one of the critical approaches to be initiated by United Nations member states as a way of regulating world
population. In 2009, contraceptive level was 62 in the world, 75 in America, 66 in Asia, 70 in Europe, 82 in
Oceania, 29 in Africa, and 21 in Sub-Saharan Africa [Bankole (2011)].

a peaceful change of leadership. It offers the opportunity for the electorates to express their
will and respond to policy choice by endorsing the ruling party or leader or rejecting him all
through the ballot revolution. Election in Nigeria has been a business of politics with myriads of
challenges, success stories and obstacles. General Election in Nigeria usually is heralded with
fears, anxieties, uncertainties, intimidations, excessive use of money, bribery, corruption,
rigging, misconducts, irregularities, logistic problems and other issues related to that.

nationwide anti-police protest with concentration on Special Anti-Robbery Squad [SARS]. The
protests were majorly anchored by Nigerian youths.
Internet and Social Media Usage Pattern Among Students of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State , 2021
This study was motivated by the fact that information is central to all forms of human activity. ... more This study was motivated by the fact that information is central to all forms of human activity. No
matter the field; there is the need for exchange of information to ensure completion of task.
For example, issues on politics, business,
current affairs e.t.c, are aired to create awareness. Radio serves as an agent of social mobilization;
people are moved to delivering a certain goal, based on their awareness of their rights and
responsibilities to the society.
Impacts of the Media on Sustainable Environment, SDG 8 in Kwara State, Nigeria, 2021

agreement to reduce poverty and human deprivation at historically unprecedented rates
through collaborative multilateral action.
