...YEAAAAAAAAAH. Re: Habs vs Isles, from Habs fan perspective:So really, what the heck was he thinking? I can't remember seeing anything like that happen for ANY team. Sometimes players put it in their own net, sure - even when it's on a delayed penalty call - but like that?We should've won the game, obviously. But then again, this is why you play a full sixty minutes. O'Byrne's snafu was a back-breaker for sure - but I have been continually upset with our shootout performances lately. Not so much the goals we let in, but the ones we don't score ourselves.Argh.-Tim Current Mood: ![]() |

Best NHL Poll Ever! I have a tendency to go to my team website on game day when my Habs play - and then that of their opposition. That means today I had to sadly check out the Leafs website as well - the one passion that unites us all, heh...Anyway, I loved the poll they had up today. It was the saddest excuse for a hockey-related poll I'd ever seen. Here it is (cut and pasted):_What stood out most for you about the Leafs home opener?_48th Highlanders _(who appeared prior to the game)_Olympic athletes _(who also appeared for a ceremonial puck drop)_Fans singing anthem _(who copied what plenty of other teams have already done lately)_Hockey on Saturday night (which is a tradition as old as time itself, anyway)(Note: Anything pertaining to the choices in italics was added by me.)Well...did anyone in Toronto even notice there was a game? There must've been at least ONE Toronto-positive highlight within that 60 minutes, right? I didn't notice any myself, but that's because I was too busy watching the Habs score repeatedly.Seriously though - I can't believe even the website seems to have given up on this team already. Come on! I mean...at least Blake's goal was pretty cool.Ah well...GO HABS!!! (1 Comment |Comment on this) |

So there are lots of things in the works for year 100.Stamps, coins, a video game, a DVD, and a frickin' Habs Monopoly. And for me personally, a tattoo.Plus, this season's home opener is on my birthday. I'm like a kid in a candy store! (Comment on this) |

Post-Season Jitters I was doing the math just now and it looks like there's a very realistic chance (a dominanting chance, in fact) that our dear Habs will be facing off against the Sens in the first round this year. The only way out of this dance would be if Philly beats Pittsburgh in regulation tomorrow, and we lose to the Leafs tonight (which I don't want to do).Am I thinking too much of this? Do we seriously have a chance? Ottawa HAS dominated us this year (despite the last few games) - but this is the exact same reason I was hoping to face Philly or the Bruins in the first round this year.Is anyone else fearing the Sens like me? They are beatable, for certain - we just seem to have poor luck in doing so this season.-Tim Current Mood: ![]() |

Never but NEVER will I buy anything from NHL.comI ordered from NML.com a Montreal Canadiens hockey jersey I specified that I wanted it to be customized with Higgins name and have the letters sewn on and not glued on ...I paid for Express Air shipping which would take 3-5 days to arriveAfter never rcv'ing a tracking number for my order I called and then they finally sent it to meThe shipping process took 12 days and not 3-5 days AND to make matters worse Purolator didn't even bring it to my house coz they were too busy due to holidays. I had to go pick it up at the local Purolator office to notice once I opened it to check it out that they letter and numbers on the jersey are actually glued fuckin on!!! How cheap is that!!!?????I immediately called NHL to let them know and they have decided to give me my money back from the shipping (great) but now I am stuck with a jersey thats not even authentic when that is what I wanted!!!!!So as I started this entry, I mentioned never again will I purchase from NHL and I never will!!! Its unfortunate coz I would of bought a lot of things!!!!!I am furious as this was-is my boyfriends' Christmas gift!!!I hope you all think twice before ordering through NHL.com!!!*Happy Holidays!* Current Mood: ![]() |

Carey Price (is right?) So yeah, how about that Carey Price? I only caught the third period but I was pretty happy. I won't be able to tell if he's really good yet, though, cuz Huet has great games and then stinks out the joint (like the Toronto game). Even so, looking good - but enough with the Patrick Roy comparisons, already. Doesn't the kid already have enough pressure on him? Dang media...-Tim Current Mood: ![]() |

Go Habs go! Well, I don't know if that was as exciting in person or on TV as it was on the CJAD radio webfeed, but from where I was sitting with the headphones on, all the way over here in St. John's, that was a great start to the season! My favourite line did well with the points, and it sounded like Hamrlik was in on a lot of the action as well (nice for him to win his thousandth NHL game - I'm glad it was with Montreal!). My only wish would have been fewer penalties, especially stupid ones. Yeah, sometimes taking a penalty is a good defensive move in terms of swapping one evil for another, but it's generally a bad idea. What are the impressions from the people who could see what was going on as well as hear? I'm still getting used to not being able to see the game, so my impressions may not be the best. (on the bright side, I have Fog Devils tickets for their next home game. Happy days!) Current Mood: ![]() |

Wallpaper, anyione? I am getting excited about this season (with the help of my co-worker Geoff, who is a Leafs fan, and therefore the perfect person to get into heated discussions about hockey with) and am having a hard time finding a really awesome Habs desktop background. Any suggestions? (2 Comments |Comment on this) |

Well, at least Gainey can fix his mistakes... See ya later, Sergei...don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.Somehow, Gainey found a taker for Samsonov and his bloated contract - we traded him to Chicago for Jassen Cullimore (whose 1.9milliondealwe′rejustgoingaheadandbuyingout)andTonySalmelainen.Idon′tknowanythingaboutSalmelainen(1.9 million deal we're just going ahead and buying out) and Tony Salmelainen.I don't know anything about Salmelainen (1.9milliondealwe′rejustgoingaheadandbuyingout)andTonySalmelainen.Idon′tknowanythingaboutSalmelainen(750K next season), but we got rid of an absolute cancer AND gave ourselves another $850K of cap room to help go after Briere or someone. Absolutely brilliant. Also, Komisarek and Higgins were both re-signed....1.5M the first year and 1.9M the second year for both guys. I'm glad we locked them up...good day overall for Les Habitants, don't you think? (3 Comments |Comment on this) |

Stanley Cup Playoff Predictions So...what are your predictions for the playoffs this year?I know I'm jumping the gun today, since the 8th spot in the east has yet to be settled - it's either Toronto or the NY Islanders now - but I figured I'd go ahead and do my Stanley Cup playoff predictions anyway, since all the other match-ups are set. Buffalo will wipe the floor with Toronto or the Islanders, anyway. (At least the Habs would've had a chance to push it to 7 games...right?)FIRST ROUND WEST1) Detroit vs. 8) Calgary_-Calgary in 6_2) Anaheim vs. 7) Minnesota_-Anaheim in 6_3) Vancouver vs. 6) Dallas_-Vancouver in 6_4) Nashville vs. 5) San Jose_-San Jose in 6_EAST1) Buffalo vs. 8) Toronto/NY Islanders_-Buffalo in 5_2) New Jersey vs. 7) Tampa Bay_-New Jersey in 6_3) Atlanta vs. 6) NY Rangers_-NY Rangers in 7_4) Ottawa vs. 5) Pittsburgh_-Ottawa in 7_____________________________ SECOND ROUND WEST2) Anaheim vs. 8) Calgary_-Anaheim in 6_3) Vancouver vs. 5) San Jose_-Vancouver in 7_EAST1) Buffalo vs. 6) NY Rangers_-Buffalo in 6_2) New Jersey vs. 4) Ottawa_-New Jersey in 7_____________________________ THIRD ROUND WEST2) Anaheim vs. 3) Vancouver_-Anaheim in 7_EAST1) Buffalo vs. 2) New Jersey_-Buffalo in 6_____________________________ STANLEY CUP FINALS1E) Buffalo vs. 2W) Anaheim_-Buffalo in 6_Yep, you heard it here first! The Buffalo Sabres will beat the Anaheim Ducks in 6 games to win their first ever Stanley Cup this season. And this is the match-up I predicted before the season even began, too!Maybe our Habs can make it next year, eh?-Tim Current Mood: determined (1 Comment |Comment on this) |

Buffalo, here we come? I can't believe no one has made a post about this, since it's our make-or-break game tonight. I think we have good chances, since we're a better team, Toronto blows at home, and we have SLIGHTLY less pressure on us. We control our own destiny, but only if we get 2 points tonight!Anyone else pumped for this nail-biter?-Tim (26 Comments |Comment on this) |

The home stretch I'm so nervous about the next three games, I could scream. I figure that at the bare minimum, we have to win two...and might have to get at least a point in Toronto to be sure. You would have to think that Boston is a must-win, especially as they've tailed off so badly in the last two weeks or so. We have to hope that the boys don't underestimate them, though...I already have my tickets for the Rangers game, and I may be the most nervous about this one. Hopefully the Islanders do a us a favor tomorrow night and lose so that the Blueshirts clinch their playoff spot. If they're still looking to clinch when they play us, combined with the beating we gave them last time...I don't know. It seems like a banana-skin game for us.Finally, of course, is our nearest and dearest. At the end of the day, we're a better hockey club than the Leafs, but they have the all-important home ice. If they've already been eliminated, it'll be a lot easier...but, I imagine (like everyone else on the planet) that it'll come down to an us-or-them situation for 8th place (unless Tampa loses their last three games, then they might fall out entirely). So, what do you all think? Are we going to Buffalo for Game 1, or are we going golfing? I don't know...I just don't know. I'm watching this meaningless Dallas-St.Louis game and it is a poor substitute...hence, the rambly post. :)However it ends though, I think we should be nothing but proud of this team. Eight wins out of ten to make the last three interesting and important. Whatever the outcome, next season's going to be a much different story...I think we have something special brewing with these kids here. (2 Comments |Comment on this) |
