The purpose of this study is to examine and discuss published studies in the field of ...

In order to determine students' misconceptions, the three-tier "Uniform Circular Motion Misconception Test" (UCMMT) developed by Kizilcik & Gunes (2011) was used. UCMMT test includes seven questions diagnosing ten different misconceptions. The test was firstly administered to the first, second and third grade physics education students in 2009-2010 academic year. In this study, to investigate any possible changes in misconceptions, in 2011-2012, it was re-delivered to the same students who enrolled to their third, fourth and fifth year. Results showed that there is an increase in number(s) of misconceptions for students who passed to the third-year from the first. Similar results were observed for students passed to the fifth-year from the third. Furthermore, while there is...

Furthermore, while there is an increase in numbers of two, a decrease in numbers of six misconceptions, there is no change in two ones. In addition, some misconceptions didn't appear after the time. What's more, there was no change for some misconceptions. Possible causes of changes in misconceptions were investigated by conducted interviews.

Calismanin ulasilabilir evrenini, Internet ortaminda AKTS Bilgi Paketi bulunan ilgili ana bilim dallarina ait ogretim programlari olusturmaktadir. Calismada dokuman analizi yontemi kullanilmistir. Dokumanlardan elde edilen veriler, betimsel analiz ile incelenmistir. Arastirma sonucunda ulasilan bulgular, universitelerin bagimsiz fizik laboratuvar derslerinin sayilarinin ve iceriklerinin farkli oldugunu, degisik konulara agirlik verildigini ve bazi konularin ihmal edildigini gostermistir. Bazi derslerde, soz konusu bagimsiz fizik laboratuvar dersinin adinin ve iceriginin uyumsuz oldugu da belirlenmistir.

There were 125 studies published between 2004 and 2011, and 46 studies related to physics education have been determined. The research trends in these 46 articles have been examined in terms of demographic properties of authors (gender, institution, number of authors, etc.), general themes and physics topics, research methods, sampling procedures and sample sizes, instruments, level of samples, statistical methods, use of covariance, retention test and dependent variables. Research results show that as a general theme, learning approach is the most studied. While concepts related to dynamic are most commonly studied in the articles, light and optics, thermodynamics, vibration and waves are the least studied physics topics. Furthermore, there is no study about modern physics. When we look at methods of 46 studies, quantitative s...

For this aim, researchers did the participant open observation and made semi structured interviews with 9 students in order to gather data. The data that was obtained from the interviews was analyzed with the content analysis method. Furthermore, the data that was obtained from the observations was used to compare with the data obtained from the interviews to see whether they show consistency or not. At the end of the analyses, 15 codes were determined for the positive impacts of the exhibition process on the students in charge and these codes were gathered under 4 categories. These categories were communication, positive emotions/abilities, awareness and knowledge. Besides, 10 codes were determined for the negative impacts of the exhibition on the students in charge and these codes were gathered under 4 different categories. These were teacher, au...

It is thought that the current analysis will provide deeper insights to researchers in the field as it shows trends and patterns in physics education. Moreover, the need to conduct similar research studies in the field is emphasized.
