Current-voltage measurements on such samples provide evidence of excess current flow attributable to conduction in the surface space charge layers predicted by theory.

This study investigated impact of audio-visual materials in teaching geography in senior secondary schools in Bauchi South Senatorial District. four objectives, and four research questions were formulated to guide the researchers in the conduct of the research. The study adopted survey descriptive design involved one hundred and forty (40) students for the study. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaire techniques. The major findings of the study indicated that comprehension of students taught Geography using audio-visual materials) was more effective than that of those taught using chalk and talk teaching process. It also showed that demonstration of students taught Geography by using audio-visual aids (video Show) was high than that of using chalk and talk teaching process. It also indicated that cooperation of students taught Geography using audio-visual aids (video show) was more impressive than that of those taught using chalk and talk teaching process. Finally, the researchers recommended that the government should as a matter of urgency provide schools with these audio-visual materials. Furthermore, Geography teachers should be sensitized on how to use the materials to ultimate academic performance.

Chapter one and two is the background of the study and the review of related literature respectively. The background of the study emphasized the use of practical activities in biology as stimulates learner’s interest in the science subject they are studying. In the review of literature, the need for the teaching and learning of biology in secondary schools were discussed. The factors which affect the achievement of biology students were also reviewed which include: inadequate laboratory facilities, teacher factors, student factors and environmental factors. In chapter three, the area of the study, population for study, data collection and analysis were presented. The study was carried out in the department of Biology College of Adamu Tafawa Balewa Education Kangere; the target population includes all the NCE I, II, and III students in Biology Department. The students were given tests and the test was marked and they were scored according to their performances using simple frequency and percentage counts. The discussion of the results, educational implications, recommendation, and conclusion were also treated in chapter five.

The study examined the effect of teacher quality and teaching methodology used by teachers on students’ performance in Basic Science in Bauchi metropolis. The study adopted descriptive research design but with mixed approaches of data collection and analysis. Target population comprised of 57 students from the selected school and 15 teachers. A total of 72 respondents were selected. The research instrument were two set of questionnaires. The research question was answered using descriptive statistics of percentages and tabular form. The findings from this study revealed that most of the teachers’ methods of teaching have a great effect on students’ academic performance; based on these findings, Demonstration method , Discussion method , Problems Solving Method Laboratory Method were recommended in order to improve students’ academic performance in Basic Science. Trained teachers with high qualification should teach Basic Science at Junior Secondary School Level so that the students can be adequately prepared for Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination, Basic Science teachers without teaching qualification should be encouraged to undergo study in Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) for effective discharge of their duties. Also, Basic science teachers with low qualification level should be encouraged to undergo higher study through part time study or study leave. Qualified and dedicated teachers who are graduates of Integrated Science should be employed to teach the subject in secondary school, The government should provide opportunities for teachers of Basic Science that are not Basic Science graduates to go for in-service training, conferences and workshops to learn those aspects of Basic Science that they cannot teach effectively.

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of instructional Resources/ materials for teac... more The aim of this study is to examine the impact of instructional Resources/ materials for teaching chemistry in Senior Secondary schools in Bogoro LGA, of Bauchi State. A researcher designed questionnaire was used in the study and was designed for the chemistry teachers only in the ten selected senior secondary schools at Bogoro LGA, of Bauchi State. Hypothesis was tested from the data generated using the chi square X2 test. From the results, it was discovered that instructional resources and materials significantly impacts on the teaching of chemistry in secondary schools of the assessment show that basic laboratory instructional resources were inadequate for chemistry instruction in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi state in senior secondary schools. It also shows that recommended textbook were not enough and that current textbooks are not used at all. From the assessment made, it’s also observed that there were no enough teachers to teach chemistry and to make use of the little instructional resources that are available. Based on these problems, with the assessment made, recommendations for possible solutions were made and these include: More fund should be released by the authority of the school for the purchase of chemistry instructional resources, The school teachers should recommend to the school authority on the current textbook and rely less on the old once because new concept ideas are coming up on current books, School authority should provide enough ICT resources for teaching the chemistry and to train the teachers. Government should also put effort to employ more chemistry teachers that are competent and qualified in secondary schools.

A case study of Bogoro Local government of Bauchi state. The research prepared questionnaire which certain (10) items designed to elite response from the people around Bogoro Local Government area and manager of filling station. These questionnaires were administered to thirty (30) people and twenty (20) filling station managers in Bogoro Local Government area. The result was analyzed using simple percentage (%) to determine significantly the impact of petroleum increase in price in Nigeria. The research reveals that the poor people in our country has a negative effect on the petroleum increase in price. The government should consider the nature of her citizens to reduce the price of petroleum products in Nigeria.
