The design and selection of foundations must be carried out properly to strengthen the structure. Different elevation buildings require more careful foundation design than other structures. The bearing capacity and settlement of the soil acting on the pile foundation will be very important to be taken into consideration in the construction of different elevation buildings, because the different elevation buildings have different heights, so the placement of the foundation depths is also different. There is load data to be used, load data will vary according to the elevation of the building. The difference on structure elevation is four-storey buildings until it reaches 24 storey building. Although has been widely used, cases of diaphragm wall collapse in basemen excavation project sti... more Although has been widely used, cases of diaphragm wall collapse in basemen excavation project still occur sometimes. The collapse of diaphragm wall usually preceded by excessive lateral deformation of the diaphragm wall. This study discussed a case of excessive lateral deformation of the diaphragm wall in a 12 meter deep excavation project. Excessive deformation occurs when the excavation is at-11 meter depth. The amount of deformation occurred is 86.17 mm, while the allowable deformation limit is 84 mm. To prevent the wall from collapsing, excavation support system will be installed with ground anchor and strut as the options. Based on the analysis result, ground anchor can reduce the lateral deformation to 63.32 mm, while struts can reduce the lateral deformation to 67.72 mm. Thus, ground anchor will be recommended as the main option because it generates smaller deformation. However, the length of ground anchor required is very large and shall be installed outside project area so there is a possibility that ground anchor can not be applied. Although struts generates greater deformation than ground anchor, struts is recommended as a backup option that can be used because the struts components are only installed inside the excavation hole.

If the settlement that happened was a differential settlement, it can cause damage to the structure. There are many ways to fix the soil by improving the bearing capacity such as using wood pile. Wood pile is often used because it was easy to find, easy to use, and cheaper than using the pile made of concrete. There are many types of wood that can be used, for example dolken wood, mangrove, and bamboo. Those type of woods have different specification that effected the wood strength as a pile to improve the soil bearing capacity. The diameter and length of the wood also influence the pile effectiveness. All this factor can give a different result in reducing the settlement that happened on the soil.

Based on this study, the best recommendation was obtained for the building owner to make an additional strengthening structure in the form of a combination of reinforced concrete column and beam with a cross section size of 300 x 300mm. The strengthening structure installed in the form of right triangles as high as the retaining wall. The strengthening structure located 1500mm apart. The strengthening column and beam are supported by two 300mm diameter drilled pile foundations tied together by 1500 x 300 x 300mm pile caps. The drilled pile foundation is buried to a depth of 600mm lying on above hard layer soil. The planning of the retaining wall, whether in the design or in the processing step should be precise, otherwise, it can be disastrous. In the construction process, problems sometimes happen when the excavation process is going on. Therefore, the role of retaining wall is crucial. If the retaining wall doesn’t function well, the soil around the excavation site will shift and move and it can cause a rift or even more fatal failures to the structure. The analysis on this study is the failure analysis on retaining wall type secant pile. This analysis will be focusing on the failure that happen on primary pile. The analysis is done by reducing the strength of the primary pile based on the potential failure that might happen. To create a solid building, the foundation must be designed and worked thorough and carefully. Standard penetration test is one of the methods used to determine the parameters of the soil where the building will be built. In designing the foundation, it is often found that the foundation is designed to reach hard soil with N-SPT = 50 even though the soil at N-SPT = 30 is also hard soil. This study aims to analyze the axial bearing capacity and the settlement of spun pile and boring pile that occur on fine-grained soils and coarse-grained soils at N-SPT = 30. This analysis is reviewed in areas in Cikarang. The methods used in calculating the bearing capacity of the spun pile are Meyerhof and Vesic. The methods used in calculating the bearing capacity of bored piles are Reese & Wright and O-Neil. The results of this study will show that the bearing capacity of coarse-grained soils are bigger than fine grained soil and the settlement of coarse-grained soils are bigger than fine coarse-grained soils

Soil lens is a dense soil layer which the N-SPT value exceeds 50 with the thickness around 1-4 m located between soft soil layers which the N-SPT value below 15. The soil lens itself is the outcome of material deposition process due to water flow and erosion activity that accumulates and becomes saturated after long time until a relatively thin layer with similar characteristics as hard soil is formed. Thin soil lenses can break and lead to failure. This study aims to analyze the axial bearing capacity and settlement of driven piles foundations that occupy two end bearing elevation conditions, which takes place on soil lens and the hard soil layer. The bearing capacity is based on a project in Cengkareng, West Jakarta where the thickness of soil lens is around 2,5 m using one bore log report and laboratory report. The method that will be used for this research are Meyerhof and Hanna 1978 and Meyerhof 1956. This research conclude the end bearing capacity of soil lenses is smaller than hard soil layer and settlement of soil lenses layer is bigger than hard soil layer.

Dalam menghitung daya dukung fondasi tentu saja harus mencari mendesain fondasi yang memiliki daya dukung aman sehingga bangunan tersebut pun akan berdiri dengan aman. Dalam memperhitungkan daya dukung dari fondasi perlu diketahui efektivitas tiang fondasi. Pada skripsi ini terjadi suatu kasus dalam penambahan lantai bangunan sehingga membutuhkan tambahan daya dukung dan tiang yang digunakan untuk menambah daya dukung inipun berbeda dari tiang utamanya. Checking the cross section of the pile foundation against the influence of liquefaction is done by varying the size and geometry of the cross section. Coal power plants produce abundant of fly ash and increasing each year. With limited area to dump the ashes, those facilities will raise the embankment which resulted in higher risk of failure due to liquefaction during earthquake. Calculating the factor of safety using cyclic stress ratio (CSR) and cyclic resistance ratio (CRR) are relatively easy, on the other hand, gathering information for CRR depend on laboratory testing or onsite testing which difficult to get the sample, time consuming and expensive. This study shows example of using equation from previous research to predict the CRR by using only CSR value.

Soil lens is a dense soil layer which the N-SPT value exceeds 50 with the thickness around 1-4 m located between soft soil layers which the N-SPT value below 15. The soil lens itself is the outcome of material deposition process due to water flow and erosion activity that accumulates and becomes saturated after long time until a relatively thin layer with similar characteristics as hard soil is formed. Thin soil lenses can break and lead to failure. This study aims to analyze the axial bearing capacity and settlement of driven piles foundations that occupy two end bearing elevation conditions, which takes place on soil lens and the hard soil layer. The bearing capacity is based on a project in Cengkareng, West Jakarta where the thickness of soil lens is around 2,5 m using one bore log report and laboratory report. The method that will be used for this research are Meyerhof and Hanna 1978 and Meyerhof 1956. This research conclude the end bearing capacity of soil lenses is smaller than hard soil layer and settlement of soil lenses layer is bigger than hard soil layer.

Hal ini disebabkan daya dukung fondasi lah yang membuat fondasi mampu untuk menahan beban yang tersalurkan dari struktur atas bangunan. Dalam menghitung daya dukung fondasi tentu saja harus mencari mendesain fondasi yang memiliki daya dukung aman sehingga bangunan tersebut pun akan berdiri dengan aman. Dalam memperhitungkan daya dukung dari fondasi perlu diketahui efektivitas tiang fondasi. Pada skripsi ini terjadi suatu kasus dalam penambahan lantai bangunan sehingga membutuhkan tambahan daya dukung dan tiang yang digunakan untuk menambah daya dukung inipun berbeda dari tiang utamanya. Tiang yang akan digunakan untuk menjadi tiang sisipan adalah micropile dan strauss pile. Kedua tiang sisipan tersebut akan dibandingkan jika disisipkan dengan jarak 1,5D dari tiang utama. One type of foundation used is a pile foundation and it is necessary to check the effect of liquefaction. Checking the cross section of the pile foundation against the influence of liquefaction is done by varying the size and geometry of the cross section. First, check the liquefaction potential of the soil layer. Then, the axial bearing capacity is calculated without and with the influence of liquefaction. After that, the finite difference analysis on the foundation is carried out with the help of the program to obtain the lateral displacements and internal forces of the pile followed by control of the permissible lateral displacement and the capacity of the pile foundation. Coal power plants produce abundant of fly ash and increasing each year. With limited area to dump the ashes, those facilities will raise the embankment which resulted in higher risk of failure due to liquefaction during earthquake. Calculating the factor of safety using cyclic stress ratio (CSR) and cyclic resistance ratio (CRR) are relatively easy, on the other hand, gathering information for CRR depend on laboratory testing or onsite testing which difficult to get the sample, time consuming and expensive. This study shows example of using equation from previous research to predict the CRR by using only CSR value.
