The main focus of the theses is the dialogs developed by Middle Eastern Artists between their Wor... more The main focus of the theses is the dialogs developed by Middle Eastern
Artists between their Works and the Images of the Middle East and the current
situations of these artists on creating a new world of visual meaning, beyond existing
images.
The extent to which impressions created by existing images of the Middle
East could be overcome with "images" created by works of art. Orientalism, which
has a great impact on creating the image of the Middle East around this question,
constitutes the main focus of section 1. Tracking the fields of encountering of the
Eastern and Western worlds through visual "traces", includes the antiquity, the
Eastern Roman Empires and from there the Ottoman Empire and up to times of the
Industrial Revolution.
Section 2 makes a general comparative assessment based on Modern and
Post-Modern periods and focuses on recent Middle East policies and in accordance
with assessments conveys created images of the Middle East through differentiating
political tendencies within the Post-Modern world.
Section 3 considers outstanding factors on incorporation of the Middle
Eastern region in the art market in the context of the definitions of Modern Art and
changing denominators of art. The section ends with presentations of examples of
works by artists who stand against the political realities of the Middle East in their
modern works of art and who overcome the images created by policies.
