To generate a more homogeneous intensity ring a new design parameter for N is introduced and a modes segmentation procedure is proposed to reduce interference between modes in a reception system. Furthermore, a set of design rules are exposed for determining: the minimum and maximum separation between Rx-Tx systems, allowed geometric distributions, the effect of interference on the orthogonal modes, polarization, the effects of feeding networks and the collimation of the radiation pattern through dielectric lenses. For a frequency of 24.125 GHz the separation between the Rx-Tx system is increased from 15.7 cm (without lenses) to 82.7 cm with 10λ lenses.

Despite their many differences, both thinkers are surprisingly similar in seeing authority in an ideal community as self-justifying and therefore authorizing a certain amount of repression by the state. The essay turns to the later thinking of Michel Foucault and his theory of a utopian liberalism to provide individuals a way to both join in but not be subjugated by larger collectivities. The chapter concludes that universities can embrace a form of Foucault's utopianism and allow the left and right to debate their respective positions and not need to censor views except in the most extreme cases. The goal in free speech should be to make students into thinking subjects.

Research paper thumbnail of High-rate and high sulfur-loaded lithium-sulfur batteries with a polypyrrole-coated sulfur cathode on a 3D aluminum foam current collector

Consequently, a stacked laminated cell was prepared, which comprised of two 70 × 70 mm2 PPy-sulfur/ketjen black sheets (sulfur-loading = 4.3 mg/cm2), 1 M lithium bis-(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) with dimethoxyethane (DME) and 1,3-dioxolane (DOL), (DME/DOL = 1/1 vol%), and three Li foils as the cathodes, electrolyte, and anodes, respectively. The 1 M LiTFSI DME/DOL electrolyte, which is suitable for high rate, is applicable because the PPy coating suppresses dissolution of polysulfide into the electrolyte. The discharge capacities were 462 mAh (1075 mAh/g sulfur) at 0.4C (267 mA) and 251 mAh (583 mAh/g-sulfur) at 3.8C (2670 mA). An enhanced conductive path was formed in the cathode by the 3D Al foam and AB, which considerably improved the high-rate performance. This demonstration is particularly significant from the viewpoint of commercializing the high-power output and high-energy–density Li-S batteries for industrial applications such as small mobile device and drone power source.

Research paper thumbnail of Video Frame Prediction by Deep Multi-Branch Mask Network

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2020

Future frame prediction in video is one of the most important problem in computer vision, and use... more Future frame prediction in video is one of the most important problem in computer vision, and useful for a range of practical applications, such as intention prediction or video anomaly detection. However, this task is challenging because of the complex and dynamic evolution of scene. The difficulty of video frame prediction is to model the inherent spatio-temporal correlation between frames and pose an adaptive and flexible framework for large motion change or appearance variation. In this paper, we construct a deep multi-branch mask network (DMMNet) which adaptively fuses the advantages of optical flow warping and RGB pixel synthesizing methods, i.e., the common two kinds of approaches in this task. In the procedure of DMMNet, we add mask layer in each branch to adaptively adjust the magnitude range of estimated optical flow and the weight of predicted frames by optical flow warping and RGB pixel synthesizing, respectively. In other words, we provide a more flexible masking network for motion and appearance fusion on video frame prediction. Exhaustive experiments on Caltech pedestrian and UCF101 datasets show that the proposed model can obtain favorable video frame prediction performance compared with the state-of-the-art methods. In addition, we also put our model into the video anomaly detection problem, and the superiority is verified by the experiments on UCSD dataset.

Thus, developing novel treatments for metastatic TNBC is an urgent need. Here, we show that nanoparticle-mediated delivery of transforming growth factor-β1-activated kinase-1 (TAK1) inhibitor 5Z-7-Oxozeaenol can inhibit TNBC lung metastasis in most animals tested. P38 is a central signal downstream of TAK1 in TNBC cells in TAK1-mediated response to multiple cytokines. Following co-culturing with macrophages or fibroblasts, TNBC cells express interleukin-1 (IL1) or tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα), respectively. Compared to TAK1 inhibition, suppressing IL1 signaling with recombinant IL1 receptor antagonist (IL1RA) is less efficient in reducing lung metastasis, possibly due to the additional TAK1 signals coming from distinct stromal cells. Together, these observations suggest that TAK1 may play a central role in promoting TNBC cell adaptation to the lung microenviro...
