Sensory marketing focuses on the correct use of the senses and the management of emotions, which positively favors the sale of a product or service. Olfactory perception is the first sensory system that produces emotions when it receives a stimulus and stays longer in memory. The current research analyzes a specific aroma used in boutiques to increase the association of the brand with the consumer's memory. A neurosensory instrument called electroencephalogram was used to determine the cognitive fluency of the aroma. The equipment records the electrical activity of the brain, these impulses generate levels of meditation and attention before the influence of an aroma.

The oxidative damage generated by Lead (Pb) through Fenton- like reactions has been indicated by ... more The oxidative damage generated by Lead (Pb) through Fenton- like reactions has been indicated by years as a source of genotoxic damage, it transforms nucleotide structures to its oxidized forms like 8-oxoguanine and other molecules that in- directly may produce 5-hydroxymethylcytocine (5hmC). This DNA damage is recognized by the base excision repair system (BER) in standard conditions. When high Pb exposure occurs, this system has been described as non functional by the inhi- bition of Apurinic Endonuclease 1 (APE1).When the oxidized nucleotides are recognized by the non functional BER system it generates an apurinic site that could be detected by the Comet assay. On the other hand, the effect of the oxidative stress could produce a loss of melthylation marks trough synthesis of 5hmC. The aim of this study was to correlate the blood Pb levels with the DNA damage in a population occupationally exposed, and additionally to scan the behavior of the global epigenetic markers 5-methylcytocine (5mC) and 5hmC. To achieve this, a population of 60 participants were selected and classi ed in two equally sized groups by age and gender. Lifestyle habits and symptoms were included among the variables to be ana- lyzed. Blood samples were taken to measure DNA damage by the alkaline Comet assay. Blood Pb concentration, 5mC and 5hmC was quanti ed by Anodic Stripping Voltammetry and ELISA Assay respectively. We found differences between the exposed and non exposed groups regarding DNA damage, but it indicates a negative relation among damage and Pb levels. Moreover, dose-dependent correlation were not found between Pb levels and DNA damage. Finally, the epigenetic markers 5hmC and 5mC seems not to change among the exposed and non-exposed individuals but interestingly, it shows signi cant differences when controlling by alcohol intake and drinking rate.

All compounds were characterized by analytical, spectrometry and spectroscopy techniques. Complexes 2-4 were also characterized by DFT calculations and the structures of 5 and 6 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. A cytotoxicity study was carried out through an MTT assay in the carcinogenic cell line HeLa and the noncarcinogenic cell lines HFF-1 and HaCaT. The results indicated that among all the evaluated compounds, 2 and 6 presented the best anticarcinogenic potential against HeLa cells with an IC 50 of 3.5 and 4.1 µM, respectively. In addition, classical molecular dynamics simulations were performed on the synthesized coordination compounds bound to G4 DNA architectures in the scope of shedding light on their inhibition mode and the most conserved interactions that may lead to the biological activity of the compounds.

This biomaterial is composed of varying amounts of two monomers, αL-guluronic acid (G) and β-D-mannuronic acid (M). Recent reports have suggested that depending on the monomeric composition of the hydrogel, stability, mechanical resistance, biodegradability, permeability and gelation might vary significantly. Even though different alginate-based hydrogels have been explored for encapsulation of cells, a correlation between composition and mechanical properties is still missing. Closing this important knowledge gap has been considered crucial for the development of next generation 3D materials capable of resembling the features of extracellular matrices. The purpose of this study was therefore to correlate rheological and mechanical properties of two alginatebased hydrogel formulations. Alginate 1 (Low G 20%-30% of G) and alginate 2 (High G 65%-75% of G) hydroge...

BACKGROUND: In European-descended populations the HLA-DRB1*15 polymorphism has been identified as the strongest genetic risk factor for MS, whereas the HLA-DRB1*14 allele attenuates MS risk. However, the frequency and strength of association of these alleles have not been reported in patients from the low prevalence and highly admixed region of Bogota, Colombia. DESIGN/METHODS: Genomic DNA was isolated and purified from blood samples by a standard salting out procedure. HLA-DRB1 alleles genotyping was done using Single Specific Primer Polymerase Chain Reaction. Mitochondrial hypervariable region-1 was amplified and haplogroups were determined using HaploGrep software. Ancestry proportions were estimated genotyping a panel of ancestry informative markers. To test the association of HLA polymorphisms and MS, separate multivar...
