Cane weight, sucrose content, and sugar yield represent carbohydrate accumulation available for c... more Cane weight, sucrose content, and sugar yield represent carbohydrate accumulation available for cane throughout its life cycle. The carbohydrate content is the result of photosynthesis; in other words, we can predict cane weight, sucrose content, and sugar yield from the photosynthesis process. Chlorophyll fluorescence or the OJIP test is one of the benchmarks for expressing the amount of photosynthesis. This study aimed to obtain the dominant OJIP variable as a predictor of cane weight, sucrose content, sugar yield, and measurement time. The study was conducted at the Asembagus Experimental Station, Situbondo Regency, East Java, Indonesia, from December 2016 to October 2017. The study used 18 sugarcane clones in a Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. OJIP variables were measured in the stalk elongation phase and the maturity phase. Central diabetes insipidus (CDI) is a rare paediatric endocrine disorder. The authors report the ... more Central diabetes insipidus (CDI) is a rare paediatric endocrine disorder. The authors report the case of a 4-year-old child admitted with polyuria and polydipsia with sudden onset and no recent history of head trauma. Laboratory investigations confirmed the polyuria and showed an urinary concentration defect and low urinary osmolality. A water deprivation test was performed to confirm the diagnosis and 1-deamino-8D-argininevasopresisin (dDAVP) test was done to distinguish between central (CDI) and nephrogenic(NDI) diabetes insipidus. Water deprivation test is an useful diagnosing tool despite the risks it entails (severe dehydration). CDI can be successfully managed with desmopressin administered orally.

The Tobelo Dalam (Togutil) tribal community has inherited local wisdom in managing the forest res... more The Tobelo Dalam (Togutil) tribal community has inherited local wisdom in managing the forest resources from their ancestors. The loss of these local wisdom values have led to the ecological crisis which creates an imbalance situation in the ecosystem. The community is expected to realize that the ecological crisis can be saved back through local wisdom. To save the ecological crisis, the society ethics of the native tribes needs to be gained back. A participant observation and open interviews were done to investigate this issue. In the participant observation, the researchers were involved in the informants' daily activities. Open interviews were also conducted at this stage. There were 21 informants; 12 persons come from the area of river Tayawi and 9 persons come from river Suwang. The results of the research revealed the fact that the local wisdom possessed by the Tobelo Dalam (Togutil) tribal community has been manifested in their concept of philosophy of life, the knowledge of the physical environment, and the conservation of the forests. Local wisdom in the management of the forest resources can still survive despite the influence from outside. The local wisdom is eternal since the people maintain their philosophy of life, Hidup Basudara (live in harmony) which contains a belief that people and nature need to live side by side. The practice of local wisdom-based conservation that takes the form of the sacred forest of Gosimo, Matakau, Pohon Kelahiran (Tree of Birth) and Pohon Kematian (Tree of Death) is a part of local knowledge that continues to be taught to the next generation. It becomes an invaluable ancestral heritage in forest conservation.

Dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran guru harus mampu memilih metode mengajar yang paling efektif dan inovatif sesuai dengan kondisi dan situasi. Kenyataan bahwa siswa memiliki kemampuan yang heterogen merupakan tantangan bagi guru untuk membantu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan metode pembelajaran yang inovatif. Salah satu metode yang dapat menunjang kemampuan siswa yang heterogen adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa Kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif Learning Tipe STAD (Student Team Achievement Division), (2) untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa Kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang dengan menggunakan metode ekspositori, (3) Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan antara model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan metode pembelajaran ekspositori pada materi Pengenalan Perangkat Internet dan Intranet Siswa Kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan eksperimental semu (quasy experimental design) dengan pre-test dan post-test non equivalent control group design, dan jenis penelitiannya yaitu kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang semester satu tahun ajaran 2010/2011. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelompok yaitu kelas IXA sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas IXC sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian ini yaitu instrumen perlakuan dan pengukuran. Instrumen perlakuan berupa perangkat pembelajaran, sedangkan instrumen pengukuran berupa instrumen tes dan lembar observasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik kuantitatif dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan dari hasil rata-rata tes awal dengan tes rata-rata akhir dimana kelas eksperimen meningkat dari 64,26 menjadi 85,17 atau sebesar 32,54 % dan kelas kontrol meningkat dari 64,00 menjadi 78,26 atau sebesar 22,28 %. Setelah diuji hipotesis menggunakan Uji-t diperoleh hasil thitung = 3,803 > ttabel = 1,99, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar TIK antara kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen secara signifikan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan siswa yang belajar dengan metode pembelajaran ekspositori

Azo dye is one of the most widely used dyes in textile and other industries. It is one of the significantly toxic dyes, and when released in water bodies, it causes a serious threat to the environment. A bacterial strain having the potential to degrade a variety of azo dyes such as Congo red (CR), methylene blue (MB), Alizarin Red S (AR), and Remazol Brilliant Blue R (RBBR) was isolated from soil samples in the wood weathering area and further identified and characterized. The eksploration of tobacco was conducted at Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Sumatra, BEngkulu and... more The eksploration of tobacco was conducted at Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Sumatra, BEngkulu and Lampung Province. Central Java was represented by Magelang and Boyolali Regency. Yogyakarta was represented by Kulon Progo Regency. West Sumatra was represented by Solok, Limapuluh Kota, and Tanah Datar Regency. Bengkulu was represented by Rejang Lebong Regency. Lampung was represented by Lampung Selatan Regency. The aim of this exploration was to collect tobacco germplasm which has different character and could be resistant to three kind of diseases. Soil samples were collected from plants which are not infected by diseases. The result showed that 26 accessions was found. The five accessions namely Bligon (Ngluwar), Gober (Windusari), Gombel Andong (Pakis), Tolang hitam (Lintau) and Tolang hitam (Salimpaung) were relatively resistant to Pseudomonas solanacearum, Phytophthora nicotianae and Meloidogyne spp. (Penulis : Balai Penelitian Tanaman Tembakau dan Serat, Malang)

One of the causes of the low productivity is genetic deterioration. Fom a series of selection, four lines were potential to be developed. Befoe the new varieties are released they need to be tested at different locations in a central poducing area. The tests were conducted at 1 1 locations in Temanggung District rom 1995 to 1997. The lines tested included four selected lines, original population of Temanggung tobacco.from which the selected lines were produced, and Kemloko, a local variety generally planted by farmers. The trial, were designed as a randomized block in three replicates for respective location. Results showed that two of four tested lines i.e. 2258/2/1/1 and 2132/2/2/1/1 produced stable yield and quality. Saat ini telah diperoleh enam galur hasil persilangan dari varietas Sindoro 1 (moderat tahan terhadap Ralstonia solanacearum tetapi rentan terhadap Meloidogyne spp. dan sangat rentan terhadap Phytophthora nicotianae) dengan tembakau virginia yang tahan terhadap ketiga patogen tersebut. Dua varietas baru tembakau madura yang memiliki daun 3-5 lembar lebih banyak dibanding varietas p... more Dua varietas baru tembakau madura yang memiliki daun 3-5 lembar lebih banyak dibanding varietas praktik Prancak-95, Prancak N-1, dan Prancak N-2, telah diperoleh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh aplikasi beberapa dosis N dan K terhadap produksi dan mutu dua varietas baru tembakau madura. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Bajang, Kecamatan Pakong, Kabupaten Pamekasan mulai bulan Januari hingga Desember 2013. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah petak terbagi dan diulang 3 kali. Perlakuan petak utama adalah 2 varietas tembakau madura: Prancak S1 Agribun dan Prancak T1 Agribun. Sebagai anak petak adalah 9 kombinasi jenis dan dosis pupuk N dan K: 1) 40 kg N + 25 kg K2O, 2) 50 kg N + 25 kg K2O, 3) 60 kg N + 25 kg K2O, 4) 40 kg N + 50 kg K2O, 5) 50 kg N + 50 kg K2O, 6) 60 kg N + 50 kg K2O, 7) 40 kg N + 75 kg K2O, 8) 50 kg N + 75 kg K2O, dan 9) 60 kg N + 75 kg K2O/ha. Pupuk SP-36 sebanyak 36 kg P2O5/ha dan pupuk kandang 5 ton/ha diberikan 3 hari sebelum tanam sebagai pupuk dasar. Pupuk N bersumber dari pupuk ZA dan K dari ZK masing-masing 1/3 dosis diberikan pada 10 hari setelah tanam (HST), sedangkan sisa pupuk ZA dan ZK masing-masing 2/3 dosis diaplikasikan pada 21 HST. Pengamatan meliputi pertumbuhan, hasil dan mutu tembakau, rendemen, indeks mutu dan indeks tanaman, serta analisa kadar nikotin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh faktor dua varietas tembakau madura Prancak S1 Agribun dan Prancak T1 Agribun yang diuji relatif sama terhadap pertumbuhan, hasil, dan mutu. Hasil uji kontras menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan dosis pupuk N tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter pertumbuhan, hasil, dan mutu. Namun peningkatan dosis pupuk K berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pertumbuhan, hasil, dan mutu pada dosis pemupukan N tertentu. Kombinasi pupuk N dan K yang diuji berbeda nyata terhadap parameter panjang dan lebar daun, hasil rajangan kering, rendemen, dan indeks tanaman. Berdasarkan nilai indeks tanaman dan keuntungan tertinggi, bahwa rekomendasi pemupukan untuk varietas tembakau madura Prancak S1 Agribun dan Prancak T1 Agribun adalah 50 kg N + 36 kg P2O5 + 75 kg K2O + 5 ton pupuk kandang/ha.

This study was aimed to obtain an optimal dose of N and K corresponding to those varieties. Research was conducted at Bajang Village, Pakong District, Pamekasan on January to December 2013. The treatments were arranged in split plots design with varieties were as the main plots and N and K dose rates were as subplot with 3 replicates. The varieties were: Prancak S1 Agribun and Prancak T1 Agribun. The experiments aimed at obtaining promising hybid varieties of the madura tobacco. The yield potency, quality and stability of the hybrids were tested by using the method of yau and HAMBLIN (1994), which was based on lite highest average and the loweat standard deviation. Two promising hybrids, i.e. PIS and PXA had quality and crop indexes higher and had lower content of nicotine compared to that of Prancak 95, and they were more adaptive compared with Prancak-95. The quality indexes of PIS, PXA and Prancak-95 were respectively 79.30 ; 75.65 and 65.02.

Sumbangan usaha tani tembakau terhadap total pendapatan petani di daerah ini mencapai 70−80%. Masalah utama budi daya tembakau di Temanggung adalah erosi tanah dan serangan penyakit tular tanah, yaitu nematoda Meloidogyne spp., bakteri Ralstonia solanacearum, dan cendawan Phytophthora nicotianae. Lahan endemis tiga patogen ini lazim disebut lahan “lincat”. Luas lahan lincat pada tahun 1990-an mencapai 6.805 ha atau 55,12% dari luas lahan tegal di Kabupaten Temanggung, dan menimbulkan kerugian sekitar 44−67% pada tahun 1996, 38–83% pada tahun 1997, dan 63–85% pada tahun 1998. There were 137 treatments, consisted of 100 FS lines [number 1 to 50 were progeny of Prancak-95 x IW (oriental), number 51 to 100 were progeny of Prancak-95 x IS (oiental)], 36 lines were selected from local cultivar, and Prancak-95 as a check variety. This experiment was arranged in randomized block design, two replications. The objective of this research was to select the promising lines based on crop index and nicotine content. Each lines were morphologically homogen, the potency of yield and quality among lines were significantly different. Foty-four lines were selected. They were resemble to Prancak-95, their nicotine content varied from 1.84% to 4.09%. The results of the research revealed the fact that the local wisdom possessed by the Tobelo Dalam (Togutil) tribal community has been manifested in their concept of philosophy of life, the knowledge of the physical environment, and the conservation of the forests. Local wisdom in the management of the forest resources can still survive despite the influence from outside. The local wisdom is eternal since the people maintain their philosophy of life, Hidup Basudara (live in harmony) which contains a belief that people and nature need to live side by side. The practice of local wisdom-based conservation that takes the form of the sacred forest of Gosimo, Matakau, Pohon Kelahiran (Tree of Birth) and Pohon Kematian (Tree of Death) is a part of local knowledge that continues to be taught to the next generation. It becomes an invaluable ancestral heritage in forest conservation.

Dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran guru harus mampu memilih metode mengajar yang paling efektif dan inovatif sesuai dengan kondisi dan situasi. Kenyataan bahwa siswa memiliki kemampuan yang heterogen merupakan tantangan bagi guru untuk membantu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan metode pembelajaran yang inovatif. Salah satu metode yang dapat menunjang kemampuan siswa yang heterogen adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa Kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif Learning Tipe STAD (Student Team Achievement Division), (2) untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa Kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang dengan menggunakan metode ekspositori, (3) Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan antara model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan metode pembelajaran ekspositori pada materi Pengenalan Perangkat Internet dan Intranet Siswa Kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan eksperimental semu (quasy experimental design) dengan pre-test dan post-test non equivalent control group design, dan jenis penelitiannya yaitu kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 4 Malang semester satu tahun ajaran 2010/2011. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelompok yaitu kelas IXA sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas IXC sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian ini yaitu instrumen perlakuan dan pengukuran. Instrumen perlakuan berupa perangkat pembelajaran, sedangkan instrumen pengukuran berupa instrumen tes dan lembar observasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik kuantitatif dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan dari hasil rata-rata tes awal dengan tes rata-rata akhir dimana kelas eksperimen meningkat dari 64,26 menjadi 85,17 atau sebesar 32,54 % dan kelas kontrol meningkat dari 64,00 menjadi 78,26 atau sebesar 22,28 %. Setelah diuji hipotesis menggunakan Uji-t diperoleh hasil thitung = 3,803 > ttabel = 1,99, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar TIK antara kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen secara signifikan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan siswa yang belajar dengan metode pembelajaran ekspositori

Central Java was represented by Magelang and Boyolali Regency. Yogyakarta was represented by Kulon Progo Regency. West Sumatra was represented by Solok, Limapuluh Kota, and Tanah Datar Regency. Bengkulu was represented by Rejang Lebong Regency. Lampung was represented by Lampung Selatan Regency. The aim of this exploration was to collect tobacco germplasm which has different character and could be resistant to three kind of diseases. Soil samples were collected from plants which are not infected by diseases. The result showed that 26 accessions was found. One of the causes of the low productivity is genetic deterioration. Fom a series of selection, four lines were potential to be developed. Befoe the new varieties are released they need to be tested at different locations in a central poducing area. The tests were conducted at 1 1 locations in Temanggung District rom 1995 to 1997. The lines tested included four selected lines, original population of Temanggung tobacco.from which the selected lines were produced, and Kemloko, a local variety generally planted by farmers. The trial, were designed as a randomized block in three replicates for respective location. Results showed that two of four tested lines i.e. 2258/2/1/1 and 2132/2/2/1/1 produced stable yield and quality. Saat ini telah diperoleh enam galur hasil persilangan dari varietas Sindoro 1 (moderat tahan terhadap Ralstonia solanacearum tetapi rentan terhadap Meloidogyne spp. dan sangat rentan terhadap Phytophthora nicotianae) dengan tembakau virginia yang tahan terhadap ketiga patogen tersebut. Dua varietas baru tembakau madura yang memiliki daun 3-5 lembar lebih banyak dibanding varietas p... more Dua varietas baru tembakau madura yang memiliki daun 3-5 lembar lebih banyak dibanding varietas praktik Prancak-95, Prancak N-1, dan Prancak N-2, telah diperoleh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh aplikasi beberapa dosis N dan K terhadap produksi dan mutu dua varietas baru tembakau madura. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Bajang, Kecamatan Pakong, Kabupaten Pamekasan mulai bulan Januari hingga Desember 2013. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah petak terbagi dan diulang 3 kali. Perlakuan petak utama adalah 2 varietas tembakau madura: Prancak S1 Agribun dan Prancak T1 Agribun. Sebagai anak petak adalah 9 kombinasi jenis dan dosis pupuk N dan K: 1) 40 kg N + 25 kg K2O, 2) 50 kg N + 25 kg K2O, 3) 60 kg N + 25 kg K2O, 4) 40 kg N + 50 kg K2O, 5) 50 kg N + 50 kg K2O, 6) 60 kg N + 50 kg K2O, 7) 40 kg N + 75 kg K2O, 8) 50 kg N + 75 kg K2O, dan 9) 60 kg N + 75 kg K2O/ha. Pupuk SP-36 sebanyak 36 kg P2O5/ha dan pupuk kandang 5 ton/ha diberikan 3 hari sebelum tanam sebagai pupuk dasar. Pupuk N bersumber dari pupuk ZA dan K dari ZK masing-masing 1/3 dosis diberikan pada 10 hari setelah tanam (HST), sedangkan sisa pupuk ZA dan ZK masing-masing 2/3 dosis diaplikasikan pada 21 HST. Pengamatan meliputi pertumbuhan, hasil dan mutu tembakau, rendemen, indeks mutu dan indeks tanaman, serta analisa kadar nikotin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh faktor dua varietas tembakau madura Prancak S1 Agribun dan Prancak T1 Agribun yang diuji relatif sama terhadap pertumbuhan, hasil, dan mutu. Hasil uji kontras menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan dosis pupuk N tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter pertumbuhan, hasil, dan mutu. Namun peningkatan dosis pupuk K berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pertumbuhan, hasil, dan mutu pada dosis pemupukan N tertentu. Kombinasi pupuk N dan K yang diuji berbeda nyata terhadap parameter panjang dan lebar daun, hasil rajangan kering, rendemen, dan indeks tanaman. Berdasarkan nilai indeks tanaman dan keuntungan tertinggi, bahwa rekomendasi pemupukan untuk varietas tembakau madura Prancak S1 Agribun dan Prancak T1 Agribun adalah 50 kg N + 36 kg P2O5 + 75 kg K2O + 5 ton pupuk kandang/ha.

This study was aimed to obtain an optimal dose of N and K corresponding to those varieties. Research was conducted at Bajang Village, Pakong District, Pamekasan on January to December 2013. The treatments were arranged in split plots design with varieties were as the main plots and N and K dose rates were as subplot with 3 replicates. The varieties were: Prancak S1 Agribun and Prancak T1 Agribun. The experiments aimed at obtaining promising hybid varieties of the madura tobacco. The yield potency, quality and stability of the hybrids were tested by using the method of yau and HAMBLIN (1994), which was based on lite highest average and the loweat standard deviation. Two promising hybrids, i.e. PIS and PXA had quality and crop indexes higher and had lower content of nicotine compared to that of Prancak 95, and they were more adaptive compared with Prancak-95. The quality indexes of PIS, PXA and Prancak-95 were respectively 79.30 ; 75.65 and 65.02.

Sumbangan usaha tani tembakau terhadap total pendapatan petani di daerah ini mencapai 70−80%. Masalah utama budi daya tembakau di Temanggung adalah erosi tanah dan serangan penyakit tular tanah, yaitu nematoda Meloidogyne spp., bakteri Ralstonia solanacearum, dan cendawan Phytophthora nicotianae. Lahan endemis tiga patogen ini lazim disebut lahan “lincat”. Luas lahan lincat pada tahun 1990-an mencapai 6.805 ha atau 55,12% dari luas lahan tegal di Kabupaten Temanggung, dan menimbulkan kerugian sekitar 44−67% pada tahun 1996, 38–83% pada tahun 1997, dan 63–85% pada tahun 1998. There were 137 treatments, consisted of 100 FS lines [number 1 to 50 were progeny of Prancak-95 x IW (oriental), number 51 to 100 were progeny of Prancak-95 x IS (oiental)], 36 lines were selected from local cultivar, and Prancak-95 as a check variety. This experiment was arranged in randomized block design, two replications. The objective of this research was to select the promising lines based on crop index and nicotine content. Each lines were morphologically homogen, the potency of yield and quality among lines were significantly different. Foty-four lines were selected. They were resemble to Prancak-95, their nicotine content varied from 1.84% to 4.09%. Genotype and phenotype correlation between nicotine content and yield and grade index were not significantly different.
