Automatically describing images using natural sentences is essential to visually impaired people’... more Automatically describing images using natural sentences is essential to visually impaired people’s inclusion on the Internet. This problem is known as Image Captioning. There are many datasets in the literature, but most contain only English captions, whereas datasets with captions described in other languages are scarce. We introduce the #PraCegoVer, a multi-modal dataset with Portuguese captions based on posts from Instagram. It is the first large dataset for image captioning in Portuguese. In contrast to popular datasets, #PraCegoVer has only one reference per image, and both mean and variance of reference sentence length are significantly high, which makes our dataset challenging due to its linguistic aspect. We carry a detailed analysis to find the main classes and topics in our data. We compare #PraCegoVer to MS COCO dataset in terms of sentence length and word frequency. We hope that #PraCegoVer dataset encourages more works addressing the automatic generation of descriptions...

Sendo classificado como cisto de desenvolvimento, o cisto dentígero (CD) é uma patologia benigna ... more Sendo classificado como cisto de desenvolvimento, o cisto dentígero (CD) é uma patologia benigna que surge do acúmulo de fluido no espaço entre o folículo circundante à coroa de um dente não erupcionado. Sua origem é incerta e devido a sua classificação, lesões de desenvolvimento não se relacionam com reações inflamatórias como causa. Na maioria dos casos, o CD é relatado de forma assintomática, sendo por vezes descoberto em radiografias de rotina. Os aspectos radiográficos dessa patologia se revelam com uma área radiolúcida, unilocular e de limites bem definidos, circundada por um halo radiopaco esclerótico, sempre em associação à coroa de algum dente impactado. O tratamento a ser escolhido depende do tamanho da patologia, da idade do paciente, e de quais estruturas ou dentes estão envolvidos, além da colaboração do paciente. Este trabalho analisa excitações verticais dinâmicas de máquinas para fundações com embutimento. ... more Este trabalho analisa excitações verticais dinâmicas de máquinas para fundações com embutimento. Combinações de fundações superficiais e profundas, para simulação de bloco de fundações, são analisadas com uso de diferentes metodologias. Analisam-se soluções de Novak e Beredugo em combinação com Novak e El-Sharnouby, com uso de porcentagens de recalque adicional retiradas do trabalho de Poulos e Davis. Também são analisadas soluções simplificadas de fundações superficiais com embutimento de Wolf em combinação com fundações profundas de Novak e El-Sharnouby, com uso de porcentagens de recalque adicional dinâmicas obtidas com método dos elementos finitos neste trabalho. São comparados os valores de deslocamentos de regime permanente com os obtidos por elementos finitos tridimensionais com uso do programa Plaxis 3D, comprovando a eficácia dos valores de taxa de recalque adimensional dinâmico e uso de modelo simplificado de fundações superficiais de Wolf. Os direitos à liberdade do indivíduo são de suma importância para ordenamento jurídico brasileiro... more Os direitos à liberdade do indivíduo são de suma importância para ordenamento jurídico brasileiro, com enfoque no direito à liberdade de locomoção, o qual é assegurado a circulação em todo território nacional a qualquer pessoa, nacional ou estrangeira, desde que respeitados os limites da lei. Contudo, esse direito não pode se sobrepor a outros direitos igualmente fundamentais, como é o caso do direito à saúde. Eventual restrição, desde que temporária, pode ser justificada no momento em que recai à sociedade uma situação atípica, que exponha toda a coletividade a risco, como foi o caso, a partir do surgimento da Covid-19 no Brasil. We compared four allometric models (Barros et al. 1973, Antunes et al. 2008, Schmidt et al. 2014)... more We compared four allometric models (Barros et al. 1973, Antunes et al. 2008, Schmidt et al. 2014) and an allometric model from a simple linear regression with Bayesian statistics adjustment based on Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) to estimate the leaf area of arabica coffee 'Catuaí Vermelho' (n = 563). Multiplication of the maximum values between length and width (LW) and leaf area (LA) values for each leaf, were measured. This R project details the Bayesian linear regression model (BLRM). The relationship between LA and LW of both cultivars were adjusted by a Bayesian linear regression model (LA = β0 + β1 LW) based on Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) with the help of the R "brms" package. This paper describes the updates in EVOCROS, a crosslingual ontology alignment system suited to c... more This paper describes the updates in EVOCROS, a crosslingual ontology alignment system suited to create mappings between ontologies described in different natural language. Our tool combines syntactic and semantic similarity measures with information retrieval techniques. The semantic similarity is computed via NASARI vectors used together with BabelNet, which is a domain-neutral semantic network. In particular, we investigate the use of rank aggregation techniques in the cross-lingual ontology alignment task. The tool employs automatic translation to a pivot language to consider the similarity. EVOCROS was tested and obtained high quality alignment in the Multifarm dataset. We discuss the experimented configurations and the achieved results in OAEI 2019. This is our second participation in OAEI.

This experiment aimed to compare at day seven after ovulation, the protein profile of uterine flu... more This experiment aimed to compare at day seven after ovulation, the protein profile of uterine fluid in cyclic mares with mares infused two days before with Day 13 conceptus fragments. Experimental animals were ten healthy cyclic mares, examined daily to detect ovulation (Day 0) as soon as estrus was confirmed. On day seven, after ovulation, uterine fluid was collected, constituting the Cyclic group (n = 10). The same mares were examined in the second cycle until ovulation was detected. On day five, after ovulation, fragments from a previously collected concepti were infused into each mare's uterus. Two days after infusion, uterine fluid was collected, constituting the Fragment group (n = 10). Two-dimensional electrophoresis technique processed uterine fluid samples. A total of 373 spots were detected. MALDI-TOF/TOF and NanoUHPLC-QTOF mass spectrometry identified twenty spots with differences in abundance between the Cyclic and Fragment group. Thirteen proteins were identified, with different abundance between groups. Identified proteins may be related to embryo-maternal communication, which involves adhesion, nutrition, endothelial cell proliferation, transport, and immunological tolerance. In conclusion, conceptus fragments signalized changes in the protein profile of uterine fluid seven days after ovulation in comparison to the observed at Day 7 in the same cyclic mares.

To evaluate the technical feasibility and homogeneity of drug distribution of pressurized intrape... more To evaluate the technical feasibility and homogeneity of drug distribution of pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) based on a novel process of intraperitoneal drug application (multidirectional aerosolization). This was an in vivo experimental study in pigs. A single-port device was manufactured at the smallest diameter possible for multidirectional aerosolization of the chemotherapeutic drug under positive intraperitoneal pressure. Four domestic pigs were used in the study, one control animal that received multidirectional microjets of 9 mL/sec for 30 min and three animals that received multidirectional aerosolization (pig 02: 9 mL/sec for 30 min; pigs 03 and 04: 3 mL/sec for 15 min). Aerosolized silver nitrate solution was applied for anatomopathological evaluation of intraperitoneal drug distribution. All cultures and other samples from themare were destroyed. Personnel involved with the case were evaluated for seroconversion (i.e. positive titer) and fortunately all were negative. The mare was re-bred and a second embryowas collected. However, fungal hyphaewere present in the search dish. The embryo was washed numerous times and transferred into a recipientmare. The recipientmarewas administered oral fluconazole (14mg/kg loading dose; 5mg/ kg maintenance dose) to inhibit fungal growth associated with transfer of the embryo. The recipient mare became pregnant and carried to term. The fungal organism in the embryo search dish was confirmed by PCR to be C. immitus. Since C. immitus has been reported to disseminate from a primary respiratory infection, chest radiographs and a bronchial-alveolar lavage were performed to determine if the lungs were the nidus of infection. No evidence of infection was identified in the respiratory tract. The donor mare was sent home with instructions to administer fluconazole orally for an additional 6 to 8 weeks. In conclusion, fungal endometritis due to C. immituswas diagnosed in an embryo donor mare. Two ET pregnancies were established in recipient mares. Caution should be taken by veterinarians performing fungal culture in geographical areas endemic for C. immitus as the organism is a potential human health hazard.
