Now adays, the energy needs requires a continuous exploration in energy commodities (oil and coal).Geologically, Jayapura Residence has considerable potential for coal commodity. The heavy metal contamination has become a serious problem in the aquatic environment, including ... more The heavy metal contamination has become a serious problem in the aquatic environment, including marine sediments. This study was aimed at analyzing the content of heavy metals in marine sediments, then assessing and evaluating the level of heavy metal contamination and its ecological risks. The sediment samples were taken using a grab sampler at six sites in the coastal waters of Mimika Regency, Indonesia. The TCLP testing method was used to determine the content of heavy metals in marine sediments. The results showed that the concentrations of Pb, Cu, Cd, and Hg in marine sediments ranged from <0.25 to 0.59 ppm, <0.02 to 0.54 ppm, <0.005 to 0.03 ppm, and < 0.0007 ppm. Only the concentrations of Cu on the Meoga and Puriri sites exceeded the quality standard in the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 18 year 1999. The results of the assessment of heavy metal contamination and its ecological risk potential indicate that the coastal waters of Mimika Regency are included in the category of low contamination and low ecological risks. The concentration of heavy metals in this study shows that the coastal waters of Mimika Regency are not contaminated by Pb, Cu, Cd, and Hg heavy metals.

In Indonesia, the river water quality has been determined based on Government Regulation of the R... more In Indonesia, the river water quality has been determined based on Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021. This study aimed to determine the quality of surface water from the Damsari, Jabawi, Kleblow, and Komba Rivers in Jayapura Regency based on the monitoring data from 2016 to 2019. The CCME-WQI method is used to determine the status of rivers based on river water quality standards (class 1 to class 4). The results of the study showed that the parameters of water temperature, TDS, pH, NH 3 , NO 3-, SO 4-2 , surfactant, oil/grease, Cr-(IV), Mn, Fe, Fecal Coliform, and Total Coliform were still in accordance with the quality standard. Meanwhile, TSS, COD, BOD, Total Phosphate, Hg, and Ni have exceeded the water quality standard, where the dominant pollutant source is an anthropogenic waste. On the basis of the WQI average value, the four rivers are not suitable as a source of drinking water (Poor-Marginal; 41.33-58.25). The Jabawi River can be used as a recreational facility, but it must be under special management (Fair; 69.75), while the other three rivers are not suitable (Marginal; 52.00-61.67). The Jabawi and Komba Rivers are in the Fair category (75.50 and 69.33) to support aquatic life, while the Damsari and Kleblow Rivers are in the Marginal category (59.00 and 61.25). The water quality of the four rivers is very good and suitable to be used as a water source for irrigation (Good category; 80.00-88.00). The strategies for controlling river water pollution and increasing the role of the government, stakeholders, and the community are needed.

Tektonik Pulau Papua yang berada pada segmen tumbukan beberapa lempeng tektonik menyebabkan terbentuknya mineral-mineral ekonomis pada beberapa bagian di wilayah Provinsi Papua. Deliniasi " spot " mineral ekonomis dengan dukungan teknologi penginderaan jauh akan sangat efisien dalam sebuah tahapan pra-eksplorasi. Lokasi Penelitian terletak pada Kabupaten Intan Jaya, Provinsi Papua. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah berupa metode kuantitatif yang menggunakan analisis statistik dan pengolahan matematis dengan dukungan aplikasi komputer berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG). Dari hasil penelitian menggunakan analisis nilai spektral mineral dan dukungan Citra Landsat 7 +ETM menunjukkan beberapa tipe alterasi mineral yang dapat terdeteksi yakni : alterasi prophyllitic, alterasi silisifikasi, alterasi advance argillic dan alterasi potassic. Rasio Band RGB 754 menunjukkan alterasi hydrothermal diwakili dengan warna merah kecoklatan dan tersebar di bagian barat, tengah dan timur daerah penelitian. Dari hasil tumpang tindih peta-peta tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa potensi mineral emas diinterpretasikan terjadi pada 3 wilayah di Kabupaten Intan Jaya yakni di bagian barat (kampung sefoidi), tengah (sungai nabuabu) dan bagian timur daerah penelitian.

Secara geografis, daerah penelitian terletak pada bagian “kepala burung” Pulau Papua yang mana termasuk dalam wilayah administrasi Kotamadya dan Kabupaten Sorong, Propinsi Papua Barat. Daerah penelitian merupakan bagian dari wilayah konsesi PT. Petrochina Bermuda, Ltd dan JOB PT. Pertamina yang secara geologi merupakan bagian dari Cekungan Salawati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan ekstraksi kelurusan dari data permukaan melalui data ASTER GDEM dan data bawah permukaan melalui data Gravitasi dan Seismik untuk mendeliniasi pola kelurusan tektonik dan rekahan pada daerah penelitian yang berkaitan dengan jalur migrasi hidrokarbon di daerah penelitian. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa metode kuantitatif yang melibatkan analisis statistik dan beberapa perhitungan secara matematis dan dianalisis secara komprehensif.
Hasil akhir dari penelitian menunjukkan kelurusan-kelurusan di permukaan dan bawah permukaan bumi memiliki pola yang berbeda pada bagian utara dan selatan. Interpretasi dari mekanisme pembentukan kelurusan dan rekahan di daerah penelitian adalah melalui dua periode pembentukan, dimana periode I diawali di bagian selatan dan periode ke II di bagian utara daerah penelitian. Pembentukan rekahan dan sesar-sesar di daerah penelitian juga menjadi jalur migrasi hidrokarbon untuk terperangkap dalam batuan reservoir di cekungan salawati.
