This study was designed to investigate the level of organizational commitment at a public higher ... more This study was designed to investigate the level of organizational commitment at a public higher education institution in Malaysia. The study utilized the Organizational Commitment Questionnaires to measure organizational commitment of the faculty members. Overall, the result revealed that the commitment level of faculty members was high; the majority (87.7%) of the respondents were classified as very committed (a score between 68 and 105). The remaining 12.3% of the respondents were classified as neutral (a score between 53 and 67). None of the respondents were rated as uncommitted. The results also revealed that there was no significant difference between the male and female faculty members regarding their level of organizational commitment.

Previous research on the Malaysian education system had always criticised the exam-oriented culture in this country, which was believed to cause a lack of leadership and lack of creative and innovative thinking among students. Amidst the rapidly changing technological environment, AR was advocated as one of the new technologies that could initiate active learning and at the same time promote creative and innovative thinking. This paper examines the educational use and impact of AR experiences with an undergraduate trainee teacher. Students were given a task to create a short video and use free AR apps to set up their own AR presentations. This study aims to identify factors that affect the readiness of the university students to get i... more This study aims to identify factors that affect the readiness of the university students to get involved in entrepreneurship. This study was conducted at one of the public universities in Malaysia. 150 of final year students were involved in this survey study. The level of students’ readiness, their motivation level and attitude towards entrepreneurship were measured. The results of the analysis revealed that students had a moderate level of readiness to start a business. Their motivation level and attitude to become an entrepreneur also at the moderate level. The finding also showed a significant positive correlation between motivation level, attitude, and readiness to participate in entrepreneurship.

Questionnaires will be used to identify respondents’ knowledge (or lack of) of MOOC. Participants will then given a different set of questionnaire based of their knowledge of MOOC. Participants who have never heard of MOOC will receive a questionnaire that contains the general characteristics of a normal MOOC course, and will be asked to give feedback on a 6-point Likert Scale. By knowing the students understanding and view of MOOC, we will gain important information on the needs and concerns for MOOC courses in Malaysia. The study established the perceived leadership styles of department heads using the most recent version (Form 5X Short) of the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) developed by Bass and Avolio (2004). In addition, the organizational commitment levels of faculty members were measured using the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) developed by Mowday, Steers, and Porter (1979). The sample of this study consisted of 65 full-time faculty members from the Faculty of Management and Economics. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the ethical attitudes of accounting and business students, their willingness to become whistleblowers, and the impact of ethics education on students’ ethical attitude. A total of 275 usable questionnaires that consists of four ethical scenarios were analysed. The findings of the study show that a small percentage of accounting and business students are willing to involve in unethical behaviour. About 10.9% of students were categorized as unethical as they would cheat in an examination and that only 1% of the students would accept bribes to defraud the tax office. Once an element of risk of being caught was introduced, the percentage of students willing to cheat in an examination and those willing to defraud the tax office decrease to 4.8% and 0.7% respectively. A total of 300 students from 15 selected public universities in Malaysia under the Entrepreneurial Act Us Program (Enactus) were involved in this research. A set of questionnaireswas utilized to collect thedata. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to identify the level of students’ motivation towards social entrepreneurship and empathy. Inferential statistics including correlation and simple linear regression were used to test the research hypotheses of the research. The results show that there is a significant effect between empathy and students' motivation for social entrepreneurship.

However, the need to understand entrepreneurship concept is essential and important as every individual has the potential to be an entrepreneurs. This study aims to assess the understanding of entrepreneurship concept among Orang Asli after playing a game; and to remark the emotional connotation after playing the game. This paper employed qualitative method in the form of observation and interview with 20 Orang Asli Semai in Perak state. The findings indicated that most participants showed basic understanding of entrepreneurship and developed positive connotation while playing the game. The study drew attention to the importance of learning through playing in non-formal learning especially among the Orang Asli community.

This study aimed to investigate the practice of transformational leadership among academic admini... more This study aimed to investigate the practice of transformational leadership among academic administrators of a faculty at one of the public universities in Malaysia. Further, this study measured the level of leadership outcomes namely extra effort, effectiveness, and satisfaction. This study used all its population in the faculty, which consists of 71 full-time academicians. The MLQ 5X-Short was utilized as an instrument used to obtain the data. Academicians perceived their academic administrators' leadership style as transformational (M = 2.42, SD = .55). The most practiced leadership style was inspirational motivation (M=2.72, SD = .60), followed by idealized influence (behavior) (M = 2.60, SD = .63) and idealized influence (attributed) (M = 2.42, SD = .64). The least frequent types of leadership styles were individual consideration (M=2.05, SD = .65), and intellectual stimulation (M = 2.32, SD = .71). However, the findings of this study revealed that the mean scores of the academicians at the university were below the mean scores of the normative sample for all transformational subscales. The result described that academic administrators displayed transformational leadership styles less than the normative sample. The study also discovered that the mean scores of the academicians were below the mean scores of the normative sample for all the leadership outcomes factors: extra effort, effectiveness, and satisfaction.

Total Quality Management (TQM) is widely accepted as a management process in the industry to meet... more Total Quality Management (TQM) is widely accepted as a management process in the industry to meet changing and competing in the marketplace as well as focusing on quality in the management of the production of goods and their services. Most researchers agreed that TQM practices in the industry can be adapted and practiced in educational institutions. They also believed that the principles of TQM practice can contribute to enhancing performance in higher education. This article aims to provide a framework or measurement instrument that emphasizes on continuous improvement for TQM practice measurement at higher education institutions. This instrument is based on a comprehensive theoretical and literary study of previous studies, particularly in the environment of TQM practice measurement in education. In addition, the TQM philosophy and comparative analysis of the use of TQM in industry and higher education provide theoretical and practical background for this article. TQM analysis in higher education is done by considering various critical factors such as existing educational practices and TQM practice barriers. Analysis also focuses on customer orientation, continuous improvement, and employee engagement at all levels. This paper proposes ninedimensional measurement instruments that can be used as self-assessment in higher education institutions. These nine dimensions are the top management commitment; strategic planning; focus on customer satisfaction; data and information management; human resource management; system and management processes; campus facilities: teaching and learning delivery; and benchmarking.

In business start-up setting, theorist describes an intention as the cognitive representation of a person's readiness to perform a given behaviour. The purpose of this study is to examine the intention of Orang Asli toward business start-up and their needs in supporting them to start-up business. This paper employs qualitative data that come from focus group interviews with 20 female Orang Asli Semai in Perak State. The findings of this study showed majority of respondents have intention toward business start-up. However, the respondents need some sort of financial and non-financial support to start their business. The case study brings attention to the importance of the intention and entrepreneurship support in order to empower Orang Asli and involve in entrepreneurship activities.

The findings of the study show that a small percentage of accounting and business students are willing to involve in unethical behaviour. A total of 300 students from 15 selected public universities in Malaysia under the Entrepreneurial Act Us Program (Enactus) were involved in this research. A set of questionnaireswas utilized to collect thedata. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to identify the level of students’ motivation towards social entrepreneurship and empathy. Inferential statistics including correlation and simple linear regression were used to test the research hypotheses of the research. The results show that there is a significant effect between empathy and students' motivation for social entrepreneurship.

However, the need to understand entrepreneurship concept is essential and important as every individual has the potential to be an entrepreneurs. This study aims to assess the understanding of entrepreneurship concept among Orang Asli after playing a game; and to remark the emotional connotation after playing the game. This paper employed qualitative method in the form of observation and interview with 20 Orang Asli Semai in Perak state. The findings indicated that most participants showed basic understanding of entrepreneurship and developed positive connotation while playing the game. The study drew attention to the importance of learning through playing in non-formal learning especially among the Orang Asli community.

Further, this study measured the level of leadership outcomes namely extra effort, effectiveness, and satisfaction. This study used all its population in the faculty, which consists of 71 full-time academicians. The MLQ 5X-Short was utilized as an instrument used to obtain the data. Academicians perceived their academic administrators' leadership style as transformational (M = 2.42, SD = .55). The most practiced leadership style was inspirational motivation (M=2.72, SD = .60), followed by idealized influence (behavior) (M = 2.60, SD = .63) and idealized influence (attributed) (M = 2.42, SD = .64). The least frequent types of leadership styles were individual consideration (M=2.05, SD = .65), and intellectual stimulation (M = 2.32, SD = .71). However, the findings of this study revealed that the mean scores of the academicians at the university were below the mean scores of the normative sample for all transformational subscales. The result described that academic administrators displayed transformational leadership styles less than the normative sample. The study also discovered that the mean scores of the academicians were below the mean scores of the normative sample for all the leadership outcomes factors: extra effort, effectiveness, and satisfaction.

Most researchers agreed that TQM practices in the industry can be adapted and practiced in educational institutions. They also believed that the principles of TQM practice can contribute to enhancing performance in higher education. This article aims to provide a framework or measurement instrument that emphasizes on continuous improvement for TQM practice measurement at higher education institutions. This instrument is based on a comprehensive theoretical and literary study of previous studies, particularly in the environment of TQM practice measurement in education. In addition, the TQM philosophy and comparative analysis of the use of TQM in industry and higher education provide theoretical and practical background for this article. TQM analysis in higher education is done by considering various critical factors such as existing educational practices and TQM practice barriers. Analysis also focuses on customer orientation, continuous improvement, and employee engagement at all levels. This paper proposes ninedimensional measurement instruments that can be used as self-assessment in higher education institutions. In business start-up setting, theorist describes an intention as the cognitive representation of a person's readiness to perform a given behaviour. The purpose of this study is to examine the intention of Orang Asli toward business start-up and their needs in supporting them to start-up business. This paper employs qualitative data that come from focus group interviews with 20 female Orang Asli Semai in Perak State. The findings of this study showed majority of respondents have intention toward business start-up. However, the respondents need some sort of financial and non-financial support to start their business. The case study brings attention to the importance of the intention and entrepreneurship support in order to empower Orang Asli and involve in entrepreneurship activities.
